Patrick's One of the prettiest of the carly fall weddings took place yesterday morning in St. Patrick's Catholic Church when Miss Betty Jo Barton, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ferman P. Barton, of McMullen Highway, became the bride of John R.

Murphy, city, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Richard T. Murphy, of Shenandoah, Pa. The double ring ceremony was solemnized at a nuptial mass at 9 o'clock, in St.

Patrick's Catholic Church. Rev. Thomas A. Hardesty officiated and was celebrant of the 70888. The altar, lighted with cathedral candles was decorated with tall vases of white chrysanthemums and ferns, with ferns; palms and tall standards containing white chrysanthemums in the sanctuary.

Leslie W. Fair, Frostburg, was vocalist, accompanied by Sister Aquinette, who also played the Bridal Chorus from "Lohengrin" BS the processional for the bridal party and the traditional recessional from Mendelssohn's "Mid Summer Night's Dream." Mr. Fair sang 'Mother At Thy Feet I'm Kneeling." preceding the ceremony, and Schubert's "Ave) Maris," Cesar Frank's "Panis An-) gelicus," "On This Day Beautiful Mother," and Sanctissima," during the mass. Mr. Murphy and John Barton, cousin 'or the bride, John Herbaugh, Edward Dolphin, cousin of the bridegroom, and William Zeller were ushers. The bride was escorted to the altar by both her mother and father, this being her request of the day to honor them on their 31st wedding anniversary.

The bride-to-be 1s a graduate of Oldtown High School, class of 1944, and of Memorial Hospital School of Nursing, class of 1947. Prior to enlistment in the Naval Reserve she was a member of the staff of New York Hospital, Cornell Center, New York. City. Dr. Evans is a graduate of Parsons High School and the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and the University of Tennessee Medical School, Memphis.

He is a member of Pi Kappa Phi and Alpha Kappa Kappa, Dr. Evans reported for active duty with the Navy last June. Social Activities Of Elks To Hold 'Circus Daze' Oct. 20, 21 vice president; Mrs. Miriam Webster; secretary; Francis Webster, treasurer, and Robert Webster, chaplain. It was decided to change the meeting night to the fourth Wednesday of each month. The Social Sessions committee has made elaborate plans to create a real circus atmosphere throughout the club. There will be Midway, Side Shows, The Big Top, and other circus attractions.

Pennants and balloons will indicate the Circus features. Cumberland Lodge has extended the privilege of open house on both nights to the committee in order that more members can attend the event and that it can be properly presented. The first night will feature the opening of the Midway and Side Shows with dancing during the evening with music furnished by the Hammond organ and played by Rudy Sullavan and his trio in the Rainbow Room, Saturday night, October 21, the Big Top, which will -be erected on the ball room floor will be open for dancing and at 10:15 musical revue will be 'presented a dancing ensemble, several soloists, novelty numbers, clowns and comedy skits from some of the current musical shows. Musical background for the dancing will be furnished by the Eight Ambassadors. The Social Sessions committee, Harry Tracy, chairman, has enlisted the aid of the Ladies Group to assist in making this an outstanding event, Tickets and reservations for the Big Show will go on sale next Saturday, October 14, at the club, Members will be permitted to bring guests for both nights, Members of the committee assisting Mr.
