The emergency situation created when Philip Walter, one of the three plant engineers at the waterworks, resigned to accept a position at the Delphos Bending Company, and Jacab Werner, substitute engineer, to accept a position at the Henry H. Rick.er Company plant. Chief Engineer jCterl' Gladen. and Engineer William Dienstberge.r> are left to handle the duties.

Since the city salary ordinance provides that waterworks engineers he paid for a 48-hour week the city council was called into special session for the passage of an emergency ordinance to make possible the paying of blue two remaining engineers tor a 12-hour day until a trick engineer can be employed. Klaus, a resident of 242 North Franklin street died suddenly at the Edward B'ockey home, near Delphos, at 1:30 o'clock Wednesday afternoon.

He had been at the Bockey residence when he was stricken. Born in Lima on June 1860, Mr. Klaus was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Klaus.

In 1909, he was married at St. John's church in this city to Catherine Bockey, the Rev. George H. Lang, officiating. Until fifteen years ago, Mr.

and Mrs. Klaus resided in Lima where the fprmer followed the butcher trade. During the summer months, Mr. ad Mrs. Klaus, made their home at the Snows in northern Michigan.

Mr. Klaus was a member of St. John's church and of the Sacred Heart League. i addition to his widow, he is survived by two brothers, Edward, and Albert, Venedqcja; and five sisters, Mrs. Kate Stelzer, Clara and Elizabeth Klaus, Lima; Mrs.

Snyder, near Portland, Indiana; and Matilda, California. Services will be held at St. John's church at 9:30 o'clock Saturday morning. Burial will he in the church cemetery. The remains were removed from the Jauman-Kolkmeyer funeral home to the Klaus residence on Thursday.
