Facets Media is releasing Andrei Zagdansky's The Interpretation of Dreams, a Russian film that mixes archival and newsreel footage with Sigmund Freud's writings, which until 1989 were banned in the former Soviet Union. Reminiscent of a stand-up comedy team, the vagabond couple at its center spend a lot of time talking about favorite years (1977 is prominenuy mentioned) and least favorite towns (Walla Walla and Spokane don't get off lightly). Orion Home Video, which released a half-dozen feature-length Japanese cartoons last year, is doing it again in March. The titles this time include Great Conquest: The Romance of Three Kingdoms, a Far East variation on Arthurian legends, narrated by Pat Morita, and 3X3 Eyes Perfect Collection (Special Collector's Edition), a compilation of a miniseries based on Yuzo Takada's occult comic book. Love and a .45, writer-director C.W. Talkington's violent black comedy about a 1990s Texas couple who take the Bonnie-and-Cfyde route, was shown at the Seattle festival and played a few cities. It's also showing at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at the University of Akron. Vidmark has it.
