Meet Your Friends The citizens of Delphos and especially the students of St. John's Catholic high school, were stunned Wednesday night by a double grade crossing tragedy which took place at about 11:15 o'clock at the Jefferson street crossing over the Pennsylvania railroad in this city.

Most of the St. John's senior class members had gone to Huron, Ohio, Wednesday to attend the funeral services for William Patrick Herr, father of the Rev. E. C. Herr, assistant pastor at St.

John's here. On the return trip to Delphos, a group of girls riding in a car being driven by Mary Catherine Pohlman, daughter of Mrs. Adeline Pohlman, near Delphos, was stranded in Tiffin when the Pohlman car developed mechanical trouble. They then went to the home of an uncle of Wilma Murray who was a passenger in the car and called to Delphos for assistance. After waiting for some time, a cousin of Miss Murray, Francis Schatzinger, 20, nephew of Mrs.

William Murray, East Seventh street, offered to drive the girls to Delphos. In the meantime a Delphos car arrived and the party of Delphos girls split up and decided to come here in the two cars. Those who were brought to Delphos in the Schatzinger care were: Mary Jo Ott, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Third street; Marie Pauline Osting, daughter of Mr.

and Mrs. Frank south of-Delphos; Dorothy Pohl, daughter of Mr. and Pohl, Adams street; Mary Catherine Pohlman, near Delphos; Wilma Murray, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Murray, East Seventh street; Edith Brickner, daughter of Mr.

and Mrs. George Brickner, west of Delphos; and Delia Klausing, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Klausing, South Jefferson street. After returning to this city, Mr.

Schatzinger drove to the Klausing residence and left off the Klausing girl. The car then drove north on Jefferson street and directly into the path of a westbound extra passenger train on the Pennsylvania. The automobile, a two-door Ter- raplane, was completely d.emol- ished and pushed partially onto the south track of the Pennsylvania. A Delpho wrecker was called to pull the debris from the trades. ambulance' was called to the scene. Miss Ott died enroute'to the hospital in'the ambulance. Miss Osting died a few minutes after being admitted to St. Rita's hospital in Lima. Mis Pohlman and Miss Pohl were admitted at the hospital and for a time early Thursday morning their conditions were considered serious.

Reports from the hospital Thursday afternoon, however, were to the effect that the conditions Of both girls are considered satisfactory. Miss Pohlman has five 'fractured rib and Miss Pohl ha an injury to her right eye and her left ear. OVIisg Murray and Miss Brickner wer removed to the office of a local Physician for treatment and later'taken' to their homes. Both were cut and bruised and suffering from shock. Mr.

Schatzinger, the driver of the car, escaped without injury. At the time of her death she was seventeen years, eleven months, and five day of' age.

She wa a member of St. John's Ca'Uholici churdh' and the Senior Class at John's high school. Miss Osting" had a prominent part in the 3 of 1946" to be held, at St. John's auditorium' May 3, and also had a part in the Senior Class Play being-held at the auditorium May 12, ana 13. Surviving al- her parents, Mr.

nnd Mrs. Osting, south of Delphos, and the following brothers and sisters: Moletus, Landeck, Eugene, Delphos, Mr Edwin Grubenhoff, Ottoville, Mrs. Jerome Klaus, Irviu, in the United States Army stationed in Germany, Edward, Donald, Alvin, twins, Earl and Earline, Vera, Norman and Roger, all at home. Also surviving are her grandparents, Mrv and Mrs. Fred Elwer, South 'Franklin street.

Mary Jo ephia ptt, 803 East Third street, was born in Corpus Christi, Texas, February 1928, a daughter of Joseph C. and Alvina Ott. She wa a a member of St. John's Catholic church and of St. John's Senior Class, and had a leading part in the Senior clas 3 play which is to be given May 12 and 13.

Last week she had taken an en- trance test to St. Rita's School of Nursing, Lima. She was also quite talented in an artistic sense, having completed several portraits. Surviving, are her parents, Mr. and Mrs.

Joseph C. Ott and the following brother and sisters: Rob'. ert, Detroit, Michigan, Marcella, Los Angeles, California, Gladys, Donald, Norma Jean and Richard at home. The body of Miss Ott will remain at the Jauman-Kolkmeyer funeral home until time for the funeral services. The body of Miss Osting will be removed to the home of her parents 'Friday afternoon and on Sunday afternoon will be returned to the Jauman-Kolkmeyer funeral home where the remains will lie in state until time for the services.

Arrangements have been made to hold a double funeral at St. John's Catholic church here on Monday morning at There will be a solemn requiem high mass.
