Mount. Again the library is the, recipient of a gift book from the American Legion Auxiliary in memory of one of their deceased members, Mrs. W. W. Mount.

The book chosen for this purpose is "Clara Schumann: A Romantic by John W. Burk, historian and program annotator for the Boston Symphony Orchestra, No full length biography of Clara Schmuann has appeared in America, but Mr. Burk has remedied this neglect by the writing of a biography which is at once scholarly and a heartening human document. The author tells us that no woman in all history has contributed as much to her art as Clara Schumann. "She 1s the living symbol of the whole romantic movement in music." To supplement this biography the library has bought "Spring Symphony" by Eleanor Painter.

This is the story of: the romantic loves of Robert, and Clara Schumann; the title based on his Spring Symphony, written as a hymn of Thanksgiving during the first year of: their marriage. Miss Painter is an artist, and has sung in both serious and light opera. She has sung the 'parts. of. Madame, and Victor Herbert's Princess Pat, part: created for 'her.
