"Then he taught me the judo he had learned as a wrestler, so that I could throw him around the stage like a scarecrow. It took me six months to learn it, but it was harder for Papa than it was for me." She grinned. "He had a lot of bumps and bruises at first, when I would throw him the wrong way." The comic apache dance was an immediate success, and since that time, Les Cinci have appeared around the world, doing their now famous act. Two years ago, they came to the United States for the first time, appearing in the Latin Quarter in New York City.

From there, they were booked in several cities in South America, delight ing audiences in Buenos Aires and Montevideo with their continually improving act. "We are constantly trying out new ideas to keep the act fresh," says Cinci. "Because our act is always new, it is always of interest, even to people who have seen it before. That's why the act has been an immediate success here at the Golden." Les Cinci have been widely seen on network television, having appeared on the Ed Sullivan show and the Judy Garland show when they were in London, and on "Hollywood Palace" just recently. The big audience in the Golden's swank Mardi Gras Theater Restaurant howls with delighted laughter as the father daughter team who calls themselves Les Cinci poke hilarious fun at the famous French apache dance during one of the tecjuences of Barry Ashton's French Quarter Carnival. Cinci, the father of the team, has been in some phase of show business all his life. He started with the circus in Marseille, France, when he was seven years old, and has wide experience in acrobatics, trapeze, contortionist acts and juggling. During the occupation of France in World War he and his daughter, a tot at that time, escaped to Spain, where he took up wrestling as temporary occupation and ended up becoming champion wrestler of Spain snd Portugal for four years. Les Qnci's present act originated while they were performing in New Delhi, India, eight years ago.

"I saw the apache dance performed onstage in a hotel in New Delhi," Cinci says, "and I got to thinking that it might be funny to put a twist on this dance, and have the woman beat up on the man, instead of the traditional man beats woman apache dance. My daughter, Chritiane, was then Id enough to look like woman, and she had had some ballet training, so I began to train her in the apache dance." Christiane flashed her attractive smile.
