23 hs25th3a Landmark casino set to reopen LAS VEGAS AP) The Landmark Hotel's casino is scheduled to reopen Friday morning after a two-month shutdown that resulted from Summa sale of the club to owners who did not have state gaming licenses. The Clark County Liquor and Gaming Licensing Board on Wednesday granted long-time Las Vegas gaming figure Frank Modi-ca a license to operate the casino for one year. After that the operation will revert to the new owners. The casino was shut down April 1, resulting in the layoff of more than 200 employees, when Lou Tickel, Zula Wolfram and Gary Yelver-ton assumed control of the club. None had gaming licenses but all have applied for licensing and an investigation currently is under way.

Modica was granted a state license last week by the Gaming Commission and the local agency's approval on Wednesday cleared the way for the reopening. Modica said the casino will be reopened at 11 a.m. with the exception of the bingo parlor, which is being renovated. Modica said most of the employees who were laid off have been rehired. Consent request denied CARSON CITY (AP) The state Supreme Court has refused to intervene in the case of a man who lost his driver's license for six months after balking at a test to see if he had been drinking liquor.

The high court decided Wednesday to reject a request from William James McGoIdrick to rescind Clark County District Court Judge Howard Babcock's April 26 order yanking his license. McGoIdrick said the judge exceeded his jurisdiction in the case. He also said there was "uncontradicted" testimony that an officer who stopped him in Las Vegas failed to warn him he would automatically lose his license for six months if he refused the test. McGoldrick's license was suspended by the state De-partmi'iit i Motor Vehicles on Feb. P.

or the violation of the stale's "implied consent" law. The Supreme Court said it was not satisfied its intervention in the case was warranted "at this time." Jet left high, dry ELKO The breakdown of a fuel truck left a jetliner and its passengers stranded for a while in Elko over the weekend. It took special flights to get the passengers to their destinations and a special trip from Reno by a me-. chanic to get the United Air Lines Boeing 737 airborne, again. Bill Goodier, United's Elko manager, said the plane left Reno Sunday morning with plenty of fuel to reach Elko, but not enough to continue on to Salt Lake City.

But because its transmission failed, United's Elko fuel truck would neither move nor pump fuel, Goodier said. Passengers were flown on smaller leased aircraft to Ely, where other airline connections are possible. Meanwhile, a mechanic drive from Reno to Elko to repair the truck. The refueled liner finally got away Monday. gazette- journal 7i.ya3a classified PUBLIC NOTICE NOTICE OF SALE OF MOTC VEHICLE Notice is hereby given to the lost registered and legal owner of: olvol Chevrolet Corvette, Serial I 106751 10773, License CEA142, Keg.
