SATURDAY MARCH 22 1958 NEVADA STATE JOURNAL RENO NEVADA $6 773 75 in ederal A id or Reno Vegas Airports Expectedto Be Approved ormal approval of $677375 worth of federal aid for Reno and Las Vegas airport projects will probably be announced today according to word received from Washington yesterday A wire from the office of Sen George Malone said the Department of Commerce will probably release a statement today authorizing the grant under the fed eral aid to airport program Thp Reno airport will receive $179250 and the Las Vegas airport will receive $198125 according to the wire The Las Vegas grant is for land acquisi and the money for Reno pays the federal share of site preparation work which was done last year for the proposed new terminal building The official notice of the granting of the money has been anticipated by local airport of ficials for some time The Reno city government was assured more than a year ago that the funds would be available as soon as the site preparation work was finished The cost of the site prepara tion work and other improve ments in the area was about $400000 and the federal gov ernment provided about 62 per cent of the funds for most of the work A similar guarantee has been made to city officials for the construction of the new terminal building which is ex pected to start in the next' few weeks City officials had not been
