The fight has been state wide, although the contests were localized in the township elections. Her Chickens Were Not Menials. A rich city man recently bought himself a country house of which his wife was snobbishly proud. After showing some acquaintances all over the house (and telling them the prices of the pictures and furniture), she took them into the grounds, where her possessions included a chick- run populated by half a hundred white Orpington's.

'I suppose you get lots of eggs from your chickens?" one of her friends suggested. "I don't think so!" was the reply. "But don't your hens lay eggs?" "Of course they can," was the haughty reply, "but considering our position they don't have to." A business meeting of the M. E. South Sunday School is to be held tonight at the church at 8 o'clock.

Bert Brewer, through his attorney, Chas. E. Prettyman today had five doctors subpoenaed for defense in case of State vs.

Brewer charged with forging a check. We understand the defense is to be insanity. The preliminary examination is set for Thursday. The defendant's parents are as- sis'ing him. It is said that he has been in trouble-several times before.
