After his sub-par round Greg hurried back to his father's driving range, near Copley, to relieve brother Herman. One shot back of Keiser and playing with the leader, Don Kepple of Fairlawn CC fired 33-37-70 to finish even par. Kepple, a graduate of Western Reserve Academy, plans to enter Denison University this Fall. The 17-year-old Fairlawn star birdied the second and seventh holes to finish two under at the turn.

But he made it clear the owners were unanimous i standing firm on their latest offer on the pension plan, the only unresolved difference between the groups. THE OWNERS claim they have gone as far as they can pending the completion of the merger with the American Football League in 1970.

The players are just as firm in saying that that far is not far enough. They insist the owners can give substantially more than the offered $450,000 increase, to $1,350,000, as the players ask. The owners' latest gambit of opening the training camps to rookies is, at best, a shaky move. They have no assurance that any rookies will report. The rookies are not members of the Players' Association.

They would become members if they make the squad. It Is questionable if they would want to incur the veterans' wrath, men who would shortly be their teammates, should they in effect hire themselves out as strikebreakers. THERE IS an implied threat the veterans exercise, football being the violent game that it is, that must give the rookies pause and cause for deep thought before they accept the owners' generous offer. Lombardi, whose Green Bay Packers must prepare themselves for combat sooner than any other team, the College All-Star game Aug. 2, refused to even speculate on what they would resort to if the rookies failed to report in sufficient numbers.

The one thing that is clear is that nothing is settled. Standings American League Wen Lost Pet.
