Ms. Curran was born September 4, 1913 in Fernley, Nevada and spent most of her life in Nevada. She married Harold Curran, June 27, 1936 in Reno after ten years of courtship, and just celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary.

She graduated from U.N.R. in 1934 in Home Economics and Education, where she was a member of Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society and Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority. She was also selected Mackay Day Queen by Bing Crosby. Virginia taught Home Economics at Yerington High School for two years and later for the Reno School District for eight years. She cherished her years teaching energetic 7th and 8th graders.

In appearance, Virginia was very slight, but in reality very strong, proving medical professionals wrong time after time. She enjoyed spending hundreds of peaceful hours walking the Nevada deserts with her lifelong partner and snorkeling and sea rafting off the Nepoli Coast when she was 75 years old. Virginia is survived by her beloved husband Harold, Reno, son Jim Curran and his wife Judi, Fallon, daughter Gaylene Moddrell and her husband Randy, Kalispell, MT, brother-in-law William Curran and his wife Doris, Fallon, NV, 9 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter. Private family services and burial will be held at Masonic Cemetery. No visitation hours are scheduled.

Arrangements are under the direction of Walton Funeral Home, Reno. TITUS Mike Titus, 37, of Sparks, Nevada, and formerly of Anti-och, passed away on July 26, 2002, in Sacramento. Born in Lodi, California on September 21, 1964, he was the son of Ben and Barbara Titus, and had only recently moved to this area. Mike spent most of his life in Antioch, graduating from Anti-och High School in 1983. He had been a partner, with his father, in a trucking company, prior to to work for Double ransportation of Antioch.

He was a great sports fan, particularly fond of baseball, a game he played himself from Little League through high school. His extensive baseball card collection was a tribute to his enthusiasm. He also enjoyed bowling and motorcycle riding. Of special significance to Mike were family and holiday get-togethers when the occasion brought lots of people together. Mike was preceded in death by his brother, John.

He is survived by his loving parents, Barbara and Ben Titus of Sparks; uncle, Ed Cates of Reno; an aunt and uncle from Fremont, California; an aunt from Danville, California; and two cousins from Fremont. He also left behind several extended family members in Washington, as well as a great number of friends in Nevada, California, and Washington. A celebration of Mike's life will be held on Saturday, August 17, 2002, at 11:30 AM at O'Brien-Rogers Crosby Funeral Home, 600 West Second Street, Reno Nevada. Anna M. LeBEOUF Anna M.

LeBeouf, 88, of Reno, Nevada, died August 7, 2002, at Hearthstone of Northern Nevada, Sparks, Nevada. Surviving are daughter, Corrine J. Bay; grandsons, Chris Bay, Les Cavanaugh; granddaughter, Charlotte Cavanaugh; 3 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren. No services are planned. Darlene Leonard Owen MACKEDON Leonard Owen Mackedon, 86, of Fallon, Nevada died Thursday, August 8, 2002 at Churchill Public Hospital.

'Leonard was born in a tent in Churchill County, Nevada at the Fanning Mill Site on February 6, 1916, to John James Mackedon and Hazel Andersen Mackedon. He was preceded in death by brother, Roy Mackedon and sister, Dorothy Alcorn. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, 'Julia Lee Motie Barkley Mackedon. Also surviving are daughters, Michelle Dondero and Lenn (Larry) Furrow; sons, Michael (Michon) Mackedon and James (Terry) Mackedon; grandchildren, Denise Bouley, James "Gib" Mackedon, Marcelle Furrow, Amy O'Flaherty, Shayn Larson, Dana Trimble, Leonard "Lem" Mackedon, John Mackedon, Emily Mackedon, Anne Mackedon and Owen Mackedon; and great grandchildren Mikayla, Alleah, Mariah and Tessa Bouley, Maggie and Ellie O'Flaherty, and Brendon and Kerra Trimble. In his youth, Leonard along with his father and brother, mined throughout northern Nevada including sites at Wonder, West View, Penelas, Alameda and the Julia Andersen Mine.

Eventually, he returned to the family home in Fallon where he established L. Mackedon and Sons Ready Mix Concrete in 1952. Leonard, a 1933 Churchill County High School graduate, was a native son who loved Nevada. His interests included fishing, hunting, boating, and reading. His greatest joy was spending time with his wife, children ana grandchildren.

He was a US Army Veteran, past president of the Fallon Lions Club, the Greenhead Hunting Club and was a member of the County Fish and Game Board. Leonard had a full life, well lived, and he died at peace with himself and the world. Services are scheduled for 1:00 p.m. on Monday, August 12 at Smith Family Funeral Home, 505 Rio Vista Drive in Fallon, NV. Donations may be made in Leonard's memory to the Churchill Arts Council, P.O.

Wilson On Tuesday, August 6, 2002, William "Dana" Wilson, 48, returned home to be with the Father. A native of Alameda, CA, he was born on Oct 18, 1953, the son of Thomas Mayo Wilson Tonita Dukes. Dana moved to Reno in his twenties, coming from Sunnyvale, CA, where he grew up.

He also spent some time living in San Jose, where he worked at the San Jose Speedway. Dana was a member of Shepard Chapel, under Pastor Arnold Murray in Gravette, AR, and would participate in a family bible study each weekday at 5am, via satellite on channel 21. He was a brothren of Clampus Vitus Chief Truckee, Chapter 3691. Dana was a loyal employee at United Construction Company for nearly 9 years. His father preceded him in death.

Survivors include his beloved wife, Candus Lea Wilson; stepchildren, Colean Ange-lia Harmon of Reno, Travis Michael Harmon, Melissa Jeanne Harmon, and Tracy Lea Harmon; his mother, Tonita Jordan; brother, Christopher Wilson; sister, Laura Mathews, all of California; as well as one grandchild, four nieces and a nephew. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 13, 2002 at 1:30 at O'Brien-Rogers Crosby Funeral Home, 600 W. Second St. Reno. Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery.

A private reception will be held in honor of Dana. There will be a great void left in many lives until we are again united together in heaven. Until then he wul be greatly missed. Janice I I Lifelong Nevada resident Dan Allen passed away August 9, 2002 after a brief illness. He was born on September 30, 1924 in Colville, Washington, moving to Sparks when he was 2 years old.

Dan graduated from Sparks High School in 1943. He joined the Navy after graduation and after being honorably discharged, returned to Sparks and married the love of his life, Louise Sorensen. They were married 55 years and raised two children in Sparks. He worked in the construction industry for 43 years until his retirement in 1987. Dan hunted and fished his entire life, was a member of Washoe County Golf Course and loved his days on the course with his buddies.

But his greatest loves were his wife, his family and friends and his beautiful yard and garden. Dan was preceded in death by his parents, his four sisters ana three brothers. He is survived by his wife; son, Dan Allen, Jr. (Gail) of Sparks; daughter, Rhonda Simmons (Bill) of Long Beach, CA; grandsons, Danny, Bobby (Cadye), and Brandon, all of Sparks; and great grandchildren, Grant, Sadye, Rebecca and Amanda. Burial will be private under the direction of Walton's Sparks Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, donations preferred to the Sparks Heritage Foundation. Charles R. i David Paul MORRISON Aug. 6, 1969 May 25, 1998 On Memorial Day 1998, David set out alone at dawn to hike to Half Dome. An unexpected storm swept through the area during the day.

He never returned. A search led by the Yosemite SAR that involved hundreds of dedicated volunteers did not find him. We may never know what happened to David on that snowy day, and we deeply miss our son, our brother, our grandson, our friend. We know that David died doing what he loved, surrounded by the beauty of nature, the creations of God that he held dear. David touched the lives of so many people with his caring, generous spirit, his courage and unforgettable sense of humor.

We love you David and know that you have found peace. We carry you forever in our hearts. James and Susan Quinn, Jens Morrison, Robert Morrison, Lynn McLellan, Elizabeth Gates, Paul and Ellen Morrison, Jennifer Morrison, Roderick Morrison, Michelle Quinn. Brian Charles BASILE Brian Charles Basile, 46, and his faithful companion, Golden Labrador Retriever, 'Rufus', 3 years old, both died August 2, 2002 from injuries suffered from an automobile accident. Brian was born June 1, 1956 and raised in Portland, Oregon.

For the past 20 years, Brian called Lake Tahoe, Nevada his home. He owned 'Imagine You' Hair Salon and 'Big Yellow Dog Kennels' of Lake Tahoe. Brian was a member of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church. Brian's passions were fishing, boating, carving, jewelry making, and spending time with his dogs. Brian is survived by his mother, Gloria Harman of Beaverton, Oregon; his father, Ralph Basile, Sr.

of Margate, Florida; his two brothers, Ralph Basile, Jr. of Aurora, Oregon and Michael Basile of North Plains, Oregon and his sister, Debbie Dunphy of Morris Plains, New Jersey. He is also survived by six nephews and one niece. A Memorial service will be held on the beach at the North Tahoe Beach Center, 7860 North Lake Tahoe Kings Beach, Calif. from Safeway Brockway Golf Course) on Friday, Aug.

Barnes, born in Sacramento, California on April 24, 1915 to David and Viola Chilton Barnes, Charles died of natural causes on August 1, 2002 in Los Altos, California. While attending the University of Nevada in Reno, Charles managed to work at Chisms Ice Cream and United Airlines, obtain a private DUMINIE February 7, 1949 August 7, 2002 Born in Reno, Nevada on February 7, 1949 and has lived in Carlin, Nevada.

She and her husband, Ozzie met in 1964 while living in Carlin. They have resided in Reno since 1977. Was currently a member of the Silver Sage Business and Professional Womens Association in Reno and worked for Block this past tax year as a tax associate. Was an active member of Girl Scouts for many years. Active with A.C.O.R.N.

in 1980. Part of the Lemmon Valley Advisory Board. Assisted with the draft to form the North Valleys Master Plan from 1979-1982. She worked with 4H for handicapped also with Special Olympics for handicapped children. She worked for Red Cross in 1991 in Santa Cruz, California during the big earthquake.

She also went to Puerto Rico as an employee with the Red Cross to assist in hurricane relief. She has worked for Dave's Flowers and she worked for the Registrar for voters for many years. Survived by parents, Frank and Margaret Edera of Silver Springs, Nevada; husband, Ozzie Duminie of Reno; sisters, Roberta Blunk of Fernley, Nevada and Donna Hernandez of Vancouver, Washington; sons, Eric, Paul, and Ronnie Duminie of Reno; daughter, Shawna Duminie of Reno; 8 grandchildren; and 8 nieces and nephews. Public Viewing to be held on Sunday, August 11, 2002, 6-8 PM, at Ross, Burke Knobel Funeral Home located at 1538 Street, in Sparks. She will be missed by all "cense and court his future wife, Francis If Burke, eventually graduating with a degree in economics in 1941.The day after Pearl Harbor he found himself flying a borrowed Stinson to San Francisco to enlist in the Navy as an airman. He served his country as a Lieutenant aboard the U.S.S. Enterprise and after its damage the Battle of Midway, the U.S.S. Bennington. Returning to his family in Reno after the war, he rejoined United Airlines as a commercial pilot that included many years as an elected union representative of the fledgling Air Line Pilots Association.

Charles retired from United in 1975 having devoted his last 10 years as a Flight Manager in San Francisco, Calif. That same year Charles was hired as a mediator specializing in airline labor relations with the U.S. National Mediation Board rising to the position of Regional Administrator (west coast) and eventually, after the death of his wife, Francis in 1985, to the position of Executive Director of the Board in Washington, DC. Charles returned to his home in California after retirement from the Board in 1998. Charles was also preceded in death by his father and mother; stepfather, Andrew Ginocchio of Reno, and brother, Ted Barnes of Sacramento, Calif.

He is survived by his second wife, Carole Learni-han Barnes, Los Altos, sister, Andrea (William) Pelter, Reno, daughter, Brenda (Frank) Nenzel, Reno, son, Charles R. (Sandra) Barnes, Irvine, stepson, Michael (Robin) Noval, Los Angeles, stepdaughter, Michele Noval, Las Vegas, grandchildren, Christopher Nenzel, St. Louis, Megan (Ken) Brown, Reno; and Thad Barnes, Huntington Beach, and many nephews and nieces. At Charles's request, there will be no services. K.

W. 'Bill' DOAN Glenn PETERSON Glenn Peterson was welcomed into God's loving arms July 28, 2002 at the WcKdmarkThe Seasons Assisted Living Facility. Glenn was born January 30, 1911 in Fergus Falls, Minnesota. He lived in Culver City, Calif, for 45 years before coming to Reno in 1988. He owned his own trucking firm.

Glenn is survived by his wife, Ethel of Reno; his son and daughter in law, Ron and Barbara Evans of Fallon, his daughter and son in law, Bonnie and Jim Warwick of Folsom, daughter, Connie Huning; granddaughters, Cindy and Karena Evans of Greeley, and nephew, Gary Peterson and wife, Linda of Brunswick, Ga. A Memorial service will be held August 22, 2002, 3:00 PM, at the WoodmarkThe Seasons. Helen Melvin Wright Campau DARBY Melvin Wright Campau Darby, age 86, passed away on Monday, July 22, 2002, at the home of his daughter in Sparks. He was born in Los Angeles, California, on January 27, 1916 to Nellie G. Wright and Leo Joyce Campau.

BUCK Lifelong Nevada resident Bill Doan, passed away August 7, 2002 at his home. He was born on July 15, 1929 in San Francisco, Calif, to Kenneth and Florence (MacLean) Doan and moved to Tonopah, Nev. as a child where his mother was a nurse at the Tonopah Air Field. IShe was a rarity-a native Nevadan August 5, 1945, in Reno, Nevada. She was preceded in death by her par-jents, Natalina and Vincenzo Isola, and brother Mario J. Buck, her loving daughter, 1 Anne, her friend Tom Fenn, a devoted json, Christian, his friend Michelle rl called he served in World War II in Rome, ft' Italy- He belonged to the American Legion I If both in W. Hollywood and Sparks. Early in his career he worked for Douglas Aircraft in Southern California to downtown Sparks. At that time he was a member of the Sparks Chamber of Commerce and had fond memories of serving as "Santa" in early Sparks Christmas parades. After closing his business, he worked for the Southern Pacific Railroad in Reno and finally in Fernley as station agent, retiring in 1981 after 20 years.

Mel was preceded in death by his parents, Nellie G. Darby and stepfather, John "Doc" Darby. He is survived by his beloved wife, Bernice E. White Darby; daughter, Robyn E. Lightner and husband, Ed; and grandson, Charles Anthony Lightner, all of Sparks.

He was previously married to Mary Ann Mathews of Southern and is survived by their daughter, Melary G. Wolf and husband, Joe of Coeur Alene, Idaho; grandchildren, Jon Dennis Wolf of Spokane, and Denise Ann Shear of Coeur d' Alene; great grandchildren, Tyler, Trevor and Dalton Wolf of Spokane; Shayleigh and Rebeckah Wolf of Texas; Krystal and Cara Carter, Tiffany Shear of Coeur d'Alene. Cremation is under the direction of John Sparks Memorial with interment at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Glendale, California. A celebration of life will be held at a late date. The family requests, in lieu of flowers, donations are made to your favorite charity.

We say good-bye to our husband, father, grandfather and friend, with the fondest of memories, and want him to know, as in the past, he will always be with us in our hearts. ried Harriett. They raised three children in the Reno, Sparks area. Bill took a job with the Bell Telephone Company, where he retired in 1982 after 35 years of service. Bill was an avid Nevada history and railroad buff.

His love for the 'Steam Locomotive' was unparalleled. This love took him statewide, nation-wide, and finally world-wide. He spent weeks in Zimbabwe and South Africa, working and riding the famed 'Garrett Locomotive' and also in Australia riding steam trains. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of the Kerak Shrine Temple, a lifetime member of the N.R.A., and an avid hunter, leaving behind three generations of Nevada hunters. Bill was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by son, Kenneth Doan, daughters, Debbie Doan and Bunny Clark and her husband, Dan; grandchildren, Dawn Doan, Chris and Nicholas Clark, J. P. Pratt, Austin Pratt, step-son, Roy Nelson and his constant companions, his 4 cats. A Celebration of Life service is planned for Friday, August 30, 2002, 2:00 PM, at Kerak Shrine Temple, 4935 Energy Way, Reno. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Shnner's Transportation Fund, 4935 Energy Way, Reno, Nevada.

She attended Central Junior High School, then graduated from Reno High School, and attended Reno Business College, Stanford's Music Department, Indiana University's Music Department, as well as the University of Nevada, Reno's Music Department's Vocal Studies and Opera Theater. She had worked for Nevada National Bank-helping with their transition to computerized banking, the Reno Dance Studio, and, with her husband Leonard, Helen was OwnerManager of Nev-Ida Property Investments, and partners in the Longley West Center, an elegant Shopping Center located in southwest Reno. Helen was the altruistic soul who brought a beam of light and touched the souls of everyone she met by encouraging her peers, by being the role model for others, and always available unselfishly to serve as President of Nevada Opera's Board of Directors-and as a Director, and performed in the Nevada Opera Chorus for twenty-five years-with sixty operas, and supporting roles in the University of Nevada's Threepenny Opera, and Nevada Opera's Mame, and Sister Angelica. Remembering the lack of Arts in Reno when she was growing up, Helen believed in introducing opera to children and supported the Nevada Opera's popular Outreach program for mini productions of opera in the rural schools that she instituted with her husband Leonard.

She supported the Truckee Meadows Boys and Girls Club, and the Italian, Teachers, Agriculture Scholarship Programs at UNR, as well as donating her time and efforts to the Multiple Sclerosis Board, the Pioneer Theater's Board of Directors and UNR's Italian Scholarship Program. Helen Isola Buck would want for us to carry on her loving, vivacious spirit, not to mourn her passing, but to celebrate with a smile. Helen's Celebration of Life will be held at the Bartley Ranch Park, 6000 Bartley Ranch Road, and located off south Lakeside Drive, on Saturday, August 24, 2002; 5:00 P.M.
