Every day was hot, no cool weather intervening Philadelphia had a maximum temperature of Hanisburg, Several places reported temperatures above "The effect of this hot weather on crops apparently has been somewhat detrimental in many districts, owing to the lack of sufficient moisture in the sort Of all growing crops corn was the least affected, and continued to grow and thrive during the hot, sunshiny days in nearly all districts. In the western counties rainfalls were ample and conditions were excellent for rapid crop growth. In eastern counties, though rain is needed, crops are not generally suffering.

Only in the section embracing the center of the state is the lack of rainfall seriously felt, crops shriveling and generally backward. Rains are much needed and would be very beneficial. "AH over the state apples continue to drop; yet, from nearly every section, as repotted, continues excellent for a fair to a heavy yield. There are a few spots, especially in the center of the state, where the prospects are slim for a large crop, but without serious mishap Pennsylvania's crop for 190 will probably be large. Pears are promising; berries plentiful." WAS ALL IN THE FAMILY Husband Sues Wife for Furnishing Him Liquor.
