'v 4 -Wy I VOL. IV. NO. 1018 GREENVILLE, THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 21, 1901 TWO OfiNTt PStf TBH DENTS PtB WBlK Nerve Slavery, It is present-day conditions heaping burdens of work upon the nervous system that tells the breaking up of health. It tells why so many and women, Who so far as age in years is concerned, should be in the prime of health, find themselves letting go of the strength, the power, the vitality they once possessed.

It Is be. cause that great motor power of the body, nerve force, it impaired. Every organ depends upon its controlling power just as much as the engine depends upon the stearc. to put it into action. An engine won't go without steam.

Neither will the heart, the brain, the liver, the kidneys, the stomach right without their.proper nerve force Let any organ be lacking in this essential and troubles of them are: Throbbing, palpitating heart. Sleepless nights. Sodden starlings. Morning languor. Brain fag.

Inability to work or think. Exhaustion on exertion, Flagging appetite. Digestion slow. Food heavy. Easily excited, nervous, irritable.

Strength fails. Loss of flesh and muscular power. Settled melancholia. Utttr despondency. A picture, hideous, but easily changed U.

one of brightness by use of Dr. A. W. Chase's Nerve Pills. They build up the nerves and supply nerve force.

JUSTICE MILL WAS FULL OF GINGER SOCIAL AFFAIRS. Special to Evening Record. MERCER, Ftb. at. Although the cases on trial were not very important the interest aroused was considerable, in that Judge Miller had a sarcastic day and the justice mill was full of ginger.

After His Honor had charged a jury with the law in the case and the latter bad decided against the law, he rematked A jury has one big advantage over a judge; they are not trammeled by law." The case of L. B. Speir vs. Robert McMiiniglii was continued until April. Speir bought a team of horses from Mc- Munigle and alleges one instead of baing nine years old was nineteen and had the heaves in the bargain.

It ap pears that one Leland Rodgers, ol Kinsman, not appear in response to the subpoena. Rodger's father, fail ing to give the court any satisfaction as to the boyi whereabouts, the judge brought Rodgers, Sr, to. the bar and told him to have lad in court at 9 a. he would jail him, From verbal casligation he received Rodgers will doubtless make the effort. In the case of T.

Reed vs, J. L. Riley, the real defendant was M. Me- Cormick. The suit was settled.

Sold by Packard Hardware company. Tours To The Tropics. Every week an Atlas Line steamship leaves New York for Port Limon, Costa Rica, via Jamaica. The trip of one of these fine steamers is replete with interest. The Island of San Salvador, discovered by Columbus in 1492, is the first land sighted after leaving New York harbor, then Fortune Islands, then the Eastern coast of Cuba, and then Jamiaca.

The ship stops two days at Kingston, but the passenger may, if he wishes, stop over until the folio wing stenmer, or longer if desired. Jamaica will not fail to interest the visitor for an eutended period. Continuing the voyage across the Carribean Sea, Port of Columbia, South America, is the next stop. Then comes Carthagena, the old Spanish stronghold of the new world, with its magnificent harbor and its fine old walls and churches. Next is Greytown, Nicaragua, where the canal is to be built, and lastly Port Limou, Costa Eica, where the cargo of coffee, spice and bananas is taken on for the return trip.

Such a voyage may be made in less than thirty days for the round trip and at a surprisingly low cost. Write F. B. Doun, ticket agent, Erie railroad, for particulars. 48-2 S30 00 Chicago to California, Portland, Seattle, Tncoma and I'ujjet Sound.

W. R'y, Chicago, IJ 31 aw QUESTION AN8WEUKU. Yes, August Flower still has the largest sale of any medicine in the civilized world. Your mothers' and grandmothers' thought of using anything else for Indig stion or Biliousness. Doctors were scarce, and they never heard of Appendicitis, Nervous Prostration or Heart failure, etc They used August Fiower to clean out the system and stop fermentation of undigested food, rtgulate the action of the liter, stimulate the nervous and organic action of the system, and that is all they took feeling dull and bid with headaches and other aches.

You onlv need a fevy closes of Green's August Flower, in liquid form, to make you satisfied there "is nothing serious the. matter with you. Get Green's Priza Almanac, Sold by C. j. Acnre, druggist, There was a lively time at a prayer meeting not a thousand miles from Greenville, last evening.

A brother, who had been a candidate for office on the Prohibition ticket end polled only about one-tenth as many votes as there were male members in his church, made the that the church was going to the bad, that on the previous prayer meeting night a number of members had gone to the lecture course entertainment and that on election day nearly all the church had voted with whisky, meaning the Republican and Democratic parties. A prominent business man present pertinently inquired it voting for Brother (a candidate on an opposition ticket and noted for his ance) was voting for whisky?" The Prohibition brother said he had mentioned no names. Then a third WELL KNOWN HERE. Father of Carnegie President, C. M.

Schwab. It may interest some of our readers to know that John A. Schwab, who about five years ago was located here, with headquarters at the National, is the father ol C. M. Schwab, who as president of the Carnegie company, and possibly head of the billion-dollar trust, has spiung into much prominence.

John A. Schwab was the general agent of the Osbornes, mower and reaper manufacturers, and had dealings with many of the farmers throughout this section, Reuben Baker being his right hand man. John T. Holmes knew him well and says he delighted to talk of his son and the progress he was making. His mother always knew when he had received a raise in salary by the receipt oi a handsome sum in qash.

It is scarcely necessary to say that Mr. Schwab, is not acting as agent for the Osborne company now. TO STOP A COLD. After exposure or when you feel a cold coming on, take a dose of Foley's Honey and Tar. It never fails to stop a cold it taken in time.

spoke up and remarked that he had voted for the Republican brother, but had seen the error of his ways and voted for moat of the Prohibitldn ticket, and as for the lecture course it was the work of the devil. Still another candidate who had left by the wayside denounced who had different of metnods the whisky question, but at this still another well known ProhibUi6nto remarked that he bad attended opera house the night in tliliit he believed the lectures and ments were uplifting jn character -i that when so many attractions morally bad it is the duty of Christiab3 to patronize the good, even if meeting had to be cut a little short. Just as others were about to opinions, the pastor said he had the floor and closed' the meeting. Erie Wreck Just West of Pa.
