While in this position she was assigned to Walter Kapyran, launch director. While working Nancy attended and received her degree from Rollins College with honors in 1980. She was promoted to lead the Astronaut Of- at KSC. She held this position for many years prior to transferring to Facilities. Nancy retired in 2005 and moved to New Smyrna Beach where she enjoyed traveling, sewing and spending time with friends.

As Nancy would often say every day is Saturday. She leaves behind her loving son, John Edward Gunter, who was the sunshine in her life. To know Nancy was to admire her and to be her friend was an honor. She was taken by cancer on January 23, 2016 and will truly be missed. There will be a service at Pine Level Baptist Church in Dowling Park, Florida at 12 pm on January 27.Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
