The last thing I want to do is cook or batttle the crowds Lucky for me (and you) GK's STEAK HOUSE and TACKROOM BAR is now open in the Sundowner HotelCasino.

Although GK's has only been open for two short weeks. I wouldn't be surprised if it soon became one of Reno's most popular dining spots. Located on the third floor of the Sundowner, GK's radiates warmth and intimacy. The decor (individual light-colored booths, crisp red tablecloths and warm wood walls) is accented by soft lighting, which you can adjust to suit your mood. A fireplace between the lounge and dining area adds a nice touch to the unhurried, cozy atmosphere.

Prime rib, steaks, and fresh seafood finest spices, Chablis wine, clam broth, cream, butter, special cocktail sauce and just a drop of lemon, this famous dish is sure to delight and titil late your tastebuds. From stem to stern, JOHN'S OYSTER BAR is indeed a seafood lover's paradise The thick, hearty Manhattan clam chowder Is delicious at only $2.25 a bowl. Oysters, flown diiectly from the icy water of Long Island's Oyster Beds are priced at a half-dozen (but, who can stop at only a half-dozen?) An-othei interesting dish is John's Favorite Gumbo File A La Creole, a sue- ment of seafood offerings at JOHN'S OYSTER BAR is definitely conducive to thoughts of the sea. Inwardly, you know you're in for a superb treat.

And, indeed you are! Larger, but with much more charm than before, JOHN'S OYSTER BAR still otters a tempting selection of seafood for your luncheon and dining pleasure. High on the list of favorites are New York's Famous Pan Roasts and Cioppino, a hearty seafood dish. Pan Roasts (oyster, shrimp or combination) are termed the aristocrat of stews. Chef Don Booth has done an excellent job of compiling not only an extensive wine list, but a delectable array of entrees as well. The wine list, bound in a maroon binder, features domestic and imported wines, champagnes and sparkling wines in addition to offering a brief course in oenology. The appetizers are divine Marinated Herring in Sour Cream, Melon in Season wrapped with Prosciutto Ham, Chopped Chicken Livers on Pumpernickel. Dinners are served with a relish tray and soup or salad and all entrees include either a baked potato or the Sundowner's special blend of wild rice. But, what to have? The Porter House Steak, 18 ounces of carefully selected beef broiled to perfection, comes highly recommended.

Petit Filet Mignon, one of my favorites, is available for $10 50. And, for those who just can't resist it, Steak-n-Lobster, served with mushroom caps and drawn butter, is reasonably priced at $15.50. In preparing this menu, it seems Don has carefully selected something for everyone: Shrimp Alg-laise, Select Loin Lamb Chops, Medallions of Veal Sundowner.
