John Armstrong went to tion hospital last week to have an operaperformed for an abcess on his head P. H. Ebbert, of Mercer, was a caller in town, last Thursday. Mrs. Blanche Shea, of Cooperstown is visiting her sister, Mrs.

H. H. Knapp Cuvier Turner, of West Virginia, is visiting his family. Miss Grace Lutton, of Hillsville, is visiting Mrs. William Gilmore.

Miss Adar Croks, of Sharpsville, is visiting her sister, Mrs. J. P. Anderson. Hezekiah Luttenilne has resigned his position with Downs Gilmore, and has sccured employment at Pittsburg.

Miss Ruth Gealy, of Franklin, is visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. Gealy. James McGarr has purchased the C.

Hesse. m12-tf In September next the 71st session of the Eire conference of the Methodist Episcopal church will meet in Meadville. The first meeting and organization of the conference was held in Meadville, August 17-23, 1836; with Bishop Soule as the presiding officer.

Inasmuch as this will be the 70th anniversary of the organization, plans are 011 foot to make the next meeting in some measure an anniversary session. The conference represents a membersip of about 47,000. There are 472 churches within its territory, and al total value of church property of more than three million and a half of dollars. HEMPFIELD. On last Tuesday Thomas came up from New Hamburg to take possession of their new home.
