French authorities did not pinpoint the Keels latest suc cess, but it was indicated that the Communists took the West ern outpost nicknamed "Hu guette," the fourth to fall since Saturday.

The fanatical Indochinese Communists hit Dien Bien Phu's western flank after early morning rebel attacks on two eastern strongpoints failed. A EVYS blackout covered the rebel advance on De Cas tries' nerve center, but officials said the Communists were closer than the 50-yard point reached last Sunday in suicide assaults. An announcement that the Red Indochinese delegation to the Geneva conference had passed through Moscow appar ently triggered the assault. The Reds swarmed out of the trenches with automatic rifles, bayonets and knives and struck at the Eastern outposts of "Dominique" and "Elaine," but French machine jpmners cut down the first waves. Another force then attacked the Western flank in a bone-chilling rain that prevented French planes from coming to the aid of Dien Bien Phu's defenders.

French authorities described the assaults as "massive." TIIE COMMUNISTS opened their assault after Red artillerymen had saturated Dien Bien's Phu's shrunken defenses with heavy mortar fire. The artillery attack came as the defenders defiantly spurned a demand to surrender. The French high command reported also that Rebel units were observed regrouping East of Muong Khoua, 35 miles Southwest of Dien Bien I'hti, apparently In an attempt to prevent a 3,000 man French Union column from coming to the aid of the garrison. The column, under the command of French Col. Jean de Crevecoeur captured Muong Khoua last week and elements have mopped up Red pockets of resistance only 20 miles West of Dien Bien Phu.

Faced with threatened year-long legal delay here, the Ohio Turnpike Commission today prepared to dump turnpike traffic into Elyria by way of Rts. 20-and 57 until the 241-mile road can be completed as scheduled. Teams of turnpike engineers began first-stage surveys for the construction of temporary, but heavy-duty three-lane links which will pour some 6,000 aiitos and heavy trucks Into Elyria daily.

Meanwhile, Elyria's special counsel, Cleveland Atty. Robert Shoup, and City Solicitor Ric hard Baird planned a strategy meeting tonight to map new counter moves to the commission's latest action. Land condemnation suits against Elyria for two city-owned land parcels vitally needed by the commission for a pike bridge over the Black River have been set down in Common Pleas Court here for May 11. Shoup and Baird have promised to ask an injunction, but must first have councils permission. ANTICIPATING the injunction, but determined to open the turnpike on its scheduled Oct.

1, 1955, completion date, pike officials Monday picked out points outside Elyria's city limits at which the turnpike will tie into Rt. 20 on the East and Rt. 57 on the Northwest. Involved In the costly construction will be the addition of toll facilities and truck weighing equipment at the Rt. 20 end.

From that end turnpike trav-elers will have to drive through downtown Elyria traffie to reach the lit. 57 Interchange connection northwest of the city. Downtown traffie routes are heavily clogged, can now be used only by a complex system of detour routing. Mayor Grant Keys already has talked about state route bypasses around town as a condition of "cooperation" with the commission. Wilson To Visit TAIPEII, Formosa V-The U.

Withdrawal of the charges "without a statement from Sen. McCarthy that he is in error Is not acceptable to him," Bryan said in behalf of Hensel.

McCarthy reported the charges were "not in error," and he would agree to withdrawal of the Hensel charges only if they are considered separately. Mundt said those portions of the charges against Hensel in volving his "guilt or Innocence" in connection with organization of a Navy supply firm in 19-14 were "not properly before the committee." 4 I HEADBOARD and METAL FRAME Lr r- rk -r'-r'na I The source reporting the pro- Jected Allied proposal on Korea said It would be a "very dim-cult thing" for Russia, Red China and North Korea to turn it down. The Communist reaction to the Allied proposal, the source added, would determine whether there is any real chance of unifying the divided country and holding free elections there. Since its beginning, the Korean phase of the Far Eastern conference has been stalemated by each side's insistence on its own plan for unification. South Korea and her 15 allies here at the conference insist on UN supervision of voting; the Communists demand that all foreign troops get out and elections be held on a basis the West is certain would assure a Communist victory. THE DELEGATION of Indo-Chinese rebels, headed by graying deputy Premier-Foreign Minister Pham Van Dong, was met at the airport by an impressive array of Communist dignitaries.

Among those on hand to greet them were Russia's Deputy Foreign Minister Andrei Gromyko, Red China's Premier-Foreign Minister Chou En Lai, and North Korean Foreign Minister Nam II.
