Comic Louis Nye Slated For 'Hillbilly' Guesting Bud Ruppert's Holiday Lodge, a new landmark at the site of an old one on Highway 40 West, is opening formally in a grand manner this weekend. Both Friday and Saturday of this weekend are grand opening days with festivities highlighted by the Sal Carson show. Featured in the show are bandleader-vocalist Carson himself, songstresses Donna Theodore and Carol Moore who have much to offer in eye and ear appeal, and musician Bill Perkins, regarded as one of the most talented tenor and baritone sax players on the Pacific Coast.

The Holiday Lodge, "Nevada's most recreational resort," is three miles west of Reno at the site of historic Lawton Hot Springs on the banks of the Truekee River. The brand new luxury motor lodge with 100 units is one of a string of Holiday Lodges owned by Ruppert in the West. The Reno area lodge is unique in the group in that it provides a gaming casino. Approval of the gaming operation at the Holiday Lodge was given this week by the state Gaming Control Board and the Gaming Commission. attractions.

Simmons commented: "One big item which is missing throughout Nevada is dancing, simply because it doesn't fit in with the volume business philosophy of casinos. She has been featured with a number of top-rated orchestras. A 45-rpm recording by Sal Carson's orchestra has just been released.

It couples "Mama's Gone Goodbye" and "She's My Baby," General Manager Stanley Simmons has announced that other attractions include completely restored mineral baths and a nine-hole golf course. The new golf facility which runs along the river just west of the lodge was designed by Robert Baldach of Fresno, a highly regarded expert in the field. The new luxurious motor lodge was built by Don DeRoza Inc. The vice president of the firm, E. Crandall, is a principal in the lodge with Ruppert and Simmons.

Other attractions to support the title "Nevada's most recreational resort," include a restaurant with banquet facilities to handle 400, a nine-hole putting green, cocktail lounge, swimming, horseback rkV ing, packtrips, shuffleboard and dancing. Simmons has pointed out that the lodge is designed to appeal to tourists and local residents alike. He predicts a high degree of popularity among the people of Reno and Sparks because of dancing to the music of Sal Carson's orchestra and all the lodge's other attractions.
