When the installation is made. Mr. Israel said, the station will probably do some modifications to its equipment in preparation for color telecasts.

The million watt power is the maximum allowed by the Federal Communications Commission for stations using channels between It and 83. WENS is on Channel 16. Tht added power may more than double the distance at which th WEN'S signal will he received, engineers estimate. Its primary signal is now received within general radius of miles from the transmitters, which are situated on the North Side, virtually on the Pittsburgh-Reserve Tup. boundary.

The multiplied power also is expected to clear up many "shadow areas" in WENS' present viewing range. The new transmitter is one of two now being constructed in this country. Un tunately, I have no particular recollection of any of the stories only of that alluring introduction. 'nner Sanctum' Sock Well, "Inner Sanctum" is back, and the creaking door may now be seen as well as heard. Back with it is, of course, the chuckling voice. Perhaps it is a different voice, perhaps only the passage of the years.

But that chuckle now sounds less like the hollow merriment of the damned than the wholesome amusement of a man who regards the whole business, when he stops to think of it, as pretty darn funny. The new, televised "Inner Sanctum" no longer deals in the occult. It has abandoned the ghosts of Its radio days and decided to go along with the current fascination with neurotic disorders. Despite this, the last two "Inner Sanctum" stories (WDTV, 9 p. m.

Wednesday) have struck me as pretty entertaining yarns. Obsessed Last right's dealt with a young lady obsessed by a need to locate and destroy the real or fancied murderer of her older sister. But this poor fellow has his own mental health problem for he is a victim of amnesia and cannot for the life of him recall what he was doing on that night six years ago when the sister met her death. Despairing of driving him into an admission the disturbed girl shoots him dead. Though she seemed sane enough oh, a little odd, perhaps when the play opened, she emerges at the end a stark lunatic. Upon hearing from police officer a reasonable account of her victim' past which seemed positively to eliminate him, posthumously, as the slayer of the sister, the girl begins to look musingly at the cop.
