1 Oil Workers to Ask Pay Equality Caracas, Venezuela, May 29. (INS) Leaders of 30,000 members of the Federal Oil Workers Syndicate who plan a nation-wide strike June 3 said today they will insist on "equal pay for native workers and Americans employed in Venezuela." Spokesmen for the oil companies involved, meanwhile, said they were willing to continue discussions on the union's 51 demands. Jesus Faria, a Communist official, said a major obstacle to settlement was "the disparity of salaries paid to workers engaged in dangerous work and those not so engaged." Dr. Angel Brice, chief attorney for the Creole Petroleum company, (Standard Oil), said he was optimistic regarding a settlement before the strike deadline. MRS.

William Simmons. Newsmen Turn Woodsmen to Assure Paper Supply Wenatchee, May (INS) A score of newsmen turned woodsmen temporarily today to assure the Wenatchee World of paper to continue publication. Led by the publisher, the staff members went into the woods on the shores of Lake Wenatchee to cut about four carloads of The publisher, Rufus Woods, estimated that this would be enough for about 40 tons of newsprint, or about a tenth of the year's supply for The World. The publisher is boss of the crew of reporters, printers and advertising men who braved stiff backs and sore muscles to help the paper through the newsprint shortage. Some staff members were left behind to get out the paper.

The day in the woods was arranged when Inland Mills, of Spokane claimed that it has too few woodsmen to furnish The World all the paper it needs. The mill told Woods that if he would provide the timber it would make the paper. Berkeley, May (INS) Further all-out research in atomic chemistry was indicated today with the announcement that a group of nuclear chemists who helped develop the atomic bomb and discovered two new elements are collaborating at the University of California. Prof. Wendell Latimer, dean of the College Chemistry, said Dr. Glenn T. Seaborg, prominent in atomic bomb research, has returned to the uni-: versity to take active charge of the university's research program in atomic chemistry.

Prof. Latimer declared a group of outstanding nuclear chemists has been assigned to work with Dr. Seaborg. The "scientists include Dr. I.

Perlman and Dr. S. J. Thompson, who played prominent roles in the Plutonium project; Morgan, a co-discoverer with Dr. Seaborg of the new element 95, Americium; Albert Ghiorso, a co-discoverer with Dr.

Seaborg of the new element 96, Curium; and R. A. James, a co-discoverer of both the new elements. The chemistry group will work in collaboration with scientists in a group headed by' Prof. Ernest O.

Lawrence, inventor of the Cyclotron and die rector of the Radiation Dr. Seaborg and the nuclear. chemists who will work with him had been assigned University of Chicago's Metal1urgical laboratory, where Dr. Seaborg was in charge of developing a separation process for. plutonium, the element used in the Nagasaki atomic bomb.
