Norman Johnson and Jay, Mr. and Mrs. Miles Cronin, Phyllis, Michael ad Cathy, all of Decorah. Postville's Pirates dropped their final scheduled game by a 33 to 25 count at Elkader last Friday night. This wound up the season for the team in conference play and gave them an even standing with six won and sjx lost.

Both teams presented good passing in the early stages of the game, but neither could score consistently. In fact, the Pirates put in the coldest first half of the season, able to garner but five points during the entire period. Elkader was able to connect for 13 points during the same time. The second half started out as a different ball game with the ball finding its way through (he nets more consistently and each team hit for 20 points during the half. Jack Meyer, Pirate center, scored on all four of the shots he took during the final half to lead his team's scoring with 8.

Louis H. Koopman, 18, son" of G. H. Koopman of Luana, has reported to Lackland AFB, the "Gateway to the Air Force," to be gin the air force basic airman indoctrination course, it was an nounced by the air base this week. Mrs.

Fred J. Miller was rushed to St. Mary's Hospital at Roches ter last Wednesday and is still confined there recovering from! an attack of meningitis. Her condition at present is considered to be well along on the road to recovery and Mr. Miller, who has been at the bedside throughout the past week, reports her to be in cheerful mood.

Mrs. James Humphrey, is now visiting in Ann Arbor. Fred L. Domke of Postville is now learning the basic principles of linecasting machine operation and care at the State University of Iowa newspaper production laboratory in Iowa City. He is one of 14 trainees who are taxing a 17-week course in newspaper pro duction.

Fred J. Thoma The JACK SPEAT Store Funeral services were held in Monona on February 12 for Christoph George Huhn, who passed away February 8 at his home in Cincinnati, Ohio. Rev. R. C.

Schlueter officiated. Burial was in Monona city cemetery. Born At Henderson Prairie. Christoph George Hahn, son of John and Anna Hahn, was born on farm at Henderson Prairie, Fayette county, on December 22, 187G. At the age of 21 he left Postville and for several years worked with a telephone company in the Dakotas and California.

The last 32 years he had been a resident of Cincinnati, where for 22 years he was in the employ of the Gas and Electric Company of that city. He was stricken with a heart attack in July of last year while attending church and had been in failing health since then. He passed away February 8 at the age ofi 73 years. He is survived by two sisters. Mrs.

Lena Meyer of Beloit. Wis-' cousin and Mrs. L. H. tAnna) Schroeder of Postville.

Every summer for the past 15 years he had visited relatives in Postville and vicinity. His parents, two sisters and a brother, preceded him in death. School Reorganization Is Topic Of Discussion Dr. F. G.

Pope, school administration export from Iowa State Teachers college, will address a public meeting on school reorganization to be held at Postville high school gymnasium on Monday evening. March 6. The meeting will start at 7:30 p. m. The program is being sponsored by the Postville Kiwanis Club.

All citizens of Postville, neighboring towns and rural areas are invited to attend. William Beall Following is the obituary of Mrs. William Beall, who passed away February 10. Stella Josephine, youngest daughter of Myron E. and Mary A. Stahl, was born in Ludlow township, Allamakee county, on February 24, 1883, and departed this life on February 10, 1950, aged 67.

All her life was spent in Allamakee county except a few months when away at school. About 1910, after her father passed away, she and her mother came to Waukon to live, and soon after she became a member of the Methodist Church. She spent many years as a teacher, afterward devoting her time to the care of her aged mother, who passed away in 1932. In that same year she was united in marriage to William Beall, and spent the last 18 years of her life, on the farm in Jefferson township. Surviving her are three sisters.

Mrs. T. P. Bollman of Basin. Wyoming, Mrs.

Carrie Brooks, and Mrs. John Palmer, both of Waukon. a cousin G. W. Stahl of Rossville, a number of nieces and nephews.

New Books Presented To The Public Library Five new books have been presented to the Postville Public Library in memory of Flora Franklin. The books were given by former teachers of the school who had taught with Mrs. Franklin. Donors included: Edna B. Stalt, Helen G.

West, Elva Weber Luehr. Anna Putnam, Mrs. G. W. Hunt, Lydia Schukei, Neva Saundry Thompson and Frances Cronin Irelan.

The new books included the following: "Out of My Life and Thought," Albert Schweitzer; "Mary," Scholem Asch; "Prince of Egypt," Dorothy Clarke Wilson; "The Man From Nazareth," Harry Emerson Fosdick; and "For Heaven's Sake," Hannah Smith. admitted Feb. 21. ESCAPED Dick Kelly of West Union had a narrow escape recently. Through error, a coalhoist dumped four and a half tons of lump coal on the cab of a truck Kelly was driving. The weight smashed the cab down so he was caught between the crushed top and the steering wheel but he was unhurt.
