Musical Program Features Sodality's Christmas Party Members of the Christian Mothers Sodality of St. Lawrence church were entertained at ft musical program at their Christ mas party in the parish hall Tues day night. L. or Club Elects Officers at Christmas Party L. or L.

club members elected officers for 3R54 at their Christ mas party in the home of Mrs. Ted Schtiiz Sr. Tuesday night. Mrs. Wayne Farrell was named president; Mrs.

George Nell, vice- president, and Mrs. Ray Honken- lus, secretary-treasurer. The party began with n. o'clock potluck supper. The table's centerpiece was ft small Christmas tree decked with colored ornaments.

A small Christmas angel was placed beside the tree. While the group waa seated at the table, Christmas gifts were ex After supper, Mrs. SchulB, re tiring president, conducted the business meeting. The remainder of the evening Was spent watching television and visiting. The next meeting will be at Mrs, Joe Hoelscher's home Jan, 19.

Angel" by John Nockols. As the first part, Mrs.

Room played a medlpy of Christmas carols. The second portion, presented by chorus, was "The Christmas Story." narrated by SUnehnrl. Vocal soloists were. Dale Texlor and A. Rolinor of Carroll and Clifford Johnson of Manning.

The third part consisted of two other solpclions by the chorus, "Beautiful Saviour" nnd "Tltoi Lord's Prayer," wilh Mrs. Ream accompanying. Following the program, Mrs. Robert J. introduced Mrs.

Knute Nelson, sodality president, who presented gifts lo the Rev. Arthur S. Foeckes and the Rev. Gerald Wingert on behalf of the Christian Mothers. Mrs.

Dolesaralso introduced Fr. Poeckes, who gave a short talk. Entertainment became informal After lhe program, Santa Claus arrived wilh the gift exchange. A draw prize was won by Mrs. Tony Kanne.

Refreshments were served from a table decorated with Christmas greens, lighted red tapors and choir boy candles. Mrs. Nelson and Mrs. Fred Orlner, vl co-pros! dent, presided al lhe coffee sor vices. The party had been nt-runged by the Christmas committee, headed by Mrs.

B. J. Leahy and Mrs, Dolezal, co-chairmen. Junior Legion Auxiliary Holds Christmas Festivities Eighteen of the 10 members of the Junior Legion Auxiliary attend ed the group's Christmas party in the American Legion hall after school Tuesday. Some of tho smaller members were accompanied by their mothers.

Mrs. Virgil G. Oleson, chairman, conducted a short business meeting and read two Christmas poems before the youngsters played games and grouped around tho Christmas tree for a gift exchange. Mrs. Olesen reported that the Junior Auxiliary has in ado and sent 100 Christmas tray favors to the Veterans Hospital at Iowa City.

Each youngster rocolved a gift and a treat from the Legion Aux illary. The next meeting of the Junior group will be the third Tuesday In January at the Legion hall. Larsen, Audubon, was married to Richard D. Berge, son of Mr. and Mrs, Ernest Berge of Bode at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 25.

The Eev. Erhardt Nielsen performed the double ring ceremony at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church. The bride wore a white silk organza gown and fingertip veil held to a lace bonnet trimmed with pearls. Her flowers wove white spider mums, centered with talisman roses. Bridesmaids were Neoma Steen, sister of the bride, Dorothy Ann L.arsen, sister-in-law, and Phelva Berge, sister of the bridegroom.

Mrs. Steen was matron of honor. Best man was Robert Lithscum. Groomsmen were Lawrence Larsen and Glen Aasland. Flower girl was Barbara Ann Larsen.

Billy Bisgaard was ring bearer. Ushers were Harlan Berge, Carl Hartman, Pete Larsen and Arnold Larsen, A reception was held for about 2SO guests in the church parlors after the ceremony. The couple will live in Iowa City, where Mr. Berge is completing his final year in medical M-hool. The bride attended Dana College, Blair, for one year and graduated from nursing school at Iowa Lutheran Hospital in DCS Moines.

She is presently employed as a jurse. Donna Lee Hopkins, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Hopkins, Oulh- Center, was married Thursday afternoon to James Pittman, son of Mr. and Mrs.

Stephen Pittman, Waterville, Ga. The Rev. Grant IC1- 'ord officiated. The bride wore a blue satin dress with navy accessories. Attendants were Mr.

and Mrs. Mads Petersen, Kimballton. Mrs. Peterson is a sister of the bride. Mr.

and Mrs. Pittman have been! employed at Ihe Guthrie County! hospital. The bride is a graduate of Guthrie Center high school. Mr. Pitlman is a veteran of three and one-years service in Korea.

They will make their home in rlaterville, Ga. Ed Martens' Of Westside Wed Fifty Years at their wedding Herald -WESTSIDE Mr. and Mrs. Ed H. Martens quietly observed their 50th wedding anniversary at their home December 9.

They were married at Monmouth, Iowa, Jackson county, and came to Westslde in 1003, farming southwest of Westside until 1345 when they moved into town. Bridesmaid was Mrs. John Behrens of Clinton, and best man was Peter Bahnsen of Oxford Junction, but they were unable to be present for the anniversary observance. Mrs. Martens (Matie Bahnsen) was born July 9, 1882 at Wall Lake, Iowa.

Mr. Martens was born August 13, 1879 at Lost Nation, Iowa. Tho honored couple was each presented a gold wrist watch, gifts from Mrs. Marten's brothers and sisters, Many relatives, friends and neighbors called lo extend host wishes. The Martens were also recipients of many gifts and cards.

They received a purse of money. The table waa laid wilh a gold lace cloth and centered with a huge bouquet of yellow roses, a gift from the children of Mrs, Josie Meyer. The wedding cake wits made by Mrs, Glen Meyer and decorated by Mrs, Edward Meyer. Mrs, Emma Campbell and Mrs. Agnes Frank served and Mrs.

Henry Wllken, poured. Mr. and Mrs. Lee Romer of Wyoming, Iowa wore out-of-town guosts at their uncle and aunt's anniversary. Mrs.

Kenneth Holley Entertains the P.F.F. At a Christmas Party Mrs. Kenneth K. Holley was hostess lo P.F.F. club members at a Christinas party in her home Tuesday "night.

Lunch was served before bridge was played and gifts were exchanged. Centering the dining table was a popcorn ring, in the middle of which were Christmas cookies from which a red candle rose. On top of each individual cake was a tiny red or green candle. teas. Tho homr was decorated for the Christtnastirlp.

Mrs. Arlpon Gillett. was chosen president; Mrs. Phil S. Mr-Quirk, vice-president, and Miss Fnnnie Blondel was re-elected secretary- treasurer.

The program was in the form of a. cnndlellghting service, with Mrs. W. L. McConkio ns narrator.

Mrs. Golch and Mrs. F. C. Beverley assislod with the candles.

During 1 the service, Mrs. Golch sang Holy Night," accompanied by Mrs. Summers, In conclusion, each member lighted a. candle from the main catulip and sang "Silent. Night." All the candles wore thon plncpd in front of three largo lighted candles on a table.

The program continued with group singing of Christmas carols, accompanied by Mrs. Gotch, and a gift exchange. Coffee was served from a can- dlolightod table. Mrs. M.

Second high prizes were awarded to Mrs. Henry Vcnteicher and Victor Hermsen, nncl low to Mr. and Mrs. Vincent Ricke. A Christmas theme was used in serving lunch.

A decorated cake honored lhe birthday of Mr. Ven- leicher, who was presented with a purse from the group. Christmas gifts were exchanged. Santa Claus also distributed gifts to the children of members. At the bridge tables, Mrs.

M. Maddy won the high score prize and Mrs. E. J. Daugherty, low.

Mrs. L. L. Akin, the only nonmcmbcr guest, was presented with a gift by her hostess. Gifts wore exchanged around the lighted Christmas tree.

Crane and Mrs. James W. Wilson entertained a few friends at a Christmas breakfast in Mrs. Crane's home Tuesday morning. Mrs.

and Mrs. Karl Benton, also of Audubon. Miss Williams is attending Audubon High school. Mr. Benton recently entered the Marine Corps and now is stationed at the Marine base in San Diego, Calif.

Carmel, for the approaching marriage of Madonna Vonnahme, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Vonnahino of Mt. Carmel, and Gerald Schreck, son of Mr. and Mrs.

William Schreck of Carroll. The wedding will take place at the Mt. Carmel Church Dec. 29. K.

Annual Christmas Party For Children Friday Children of Knights of Colum bus will see a film and hear selections by the Knights of Columbus choral group at their Christmas party in the K. of C. hall Friday night, beginning at 7:30. Santa Claus will arrive, bring ing treats for all the children up to 12 years of age.

Madonna Vonnahme Is Complimented At A Prenuptial Shower Madonna Vonnahme, who will marry Gerald Schreck in an 8:30 ceremony Dec. 29 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel church, was honored at a miscellaneous shower Sunday afternoon in the Mount Car mel hall. Hostesses were Kathryn and lone Vonnahme, sisters of the bride-elect, Mrs. Alois Vonnahme, and daughter, Colleen. The prospective bride was pre sented with a corsage with compliments of her sister, Lois Vonnahme, who is away at college.

Games were played and prizes were awarded to Joan Pudenz, Marilyn Bruch, Mrs. Joe Heisterkamp and Dolores Berger. The hostesses were assisted In serving lunch by the bride-elect's mother, Mrs. Frank Vonnahme, and Mrs. Susan Reiff.

Santa Glaus." Games, arranged by Mrs. C. M. Baylias, were included in the entertainment. Part of the afternoon was spent boxing randies as a Christmas gift from the club to the Carroll County Home.

Mrs. Hillyer served punch and cookies from a table laid with a Christmas cloth and decorated with a candle arrangement and a Madonna figurine. Mrs. Carl Bauerle presided at the punch bowl. Mrs, Bauerle, Mrs.

Merrill Rogers and Mrs. Bayliss comprised the committee on party arrangements. The next meeting will be at Mrs. Alfred Meyers' home Tuesday, Jan. 5.

Club Group Begins Christinas Party With A No-Hostess Dinner The Merry-Meelers held their annual Christmas party Tuesday night. After a no-hostesa dinner at the New Brown Derby, Mrs. Robert Moehn entertained the group at her home. Contract bridge was played and gifts were exchanged. Score prizes were won by Mrs.

Louis Macke, who held high, and Mrs. Louis Nockels, low. After the games, Mm Moehn served lunch at the bridge tables, which were appointed in the Christmas colors of red and green. Mrs. David Arts will entertain at her home in three weeks.

Hansman-Behrens Wedding Banns Wedding banns were called for the first time Sunday for the ap prqaching marriage of Margaret Helen Hansman, daughter of Mrs. Rose Hansman of Carroll, and James Behrens, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Behrens. Banns were announced at Holy Angels Church, Roselle, and St.

Mary's Church, Willey, where the wedding will take place at 8:30 Tuesday morning, Dec. 29. Personal Paragraphs Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Rohb, son, Bruce, and daughter, Sara, accompanied by Mr.

Robb's mother, Mrs. E. A. Robb, are leaving Wednesday afternoon on a southern vacation trip. They are going; to Mobile, and then west along the gulf coast.

They will be New Year's guests at Midland, of Mr. and Mrs. A. W. Utley and family, formerly of Mr.

and Rlley nnd daughter, Rosalyn, of Storm Lake visited over Sunday with Mr. Riley'a parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. Rlley, and his grandmother, Mrs.

Arnofd Sporleder are leaving Wednesday night for Tucson, where they will spend about six weeks with their i son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and i Mrs. Harold Rudi, and family, Ralph Anzrvlnn, John and Duane Thelen, Creighton University students, arrived from Omaha Tuesday night to be at their homes here until Jan. 4. The three have taken work for the holidays.

Ralph Anzevino and Duane Thelen are assisting at the post office. John Leahy is working at Nockels Store. Arthur A. Neu, who attends Northwestern University, Evanston, 111., will arrive Wednesday night to spend the holidays with his parents. Mr.

and Mrs. A. N. Neu, and his brother, Charles. Group of 60 At Teachers' Christmas Party Sixty teachers, their wives and husbands attended the annual Chrislm'as party of the faculty and staff of Carroll Public schools in the school lunch room Tuesday evening.

Instead of exchanging Christmas gifts, contributions were made lo the Goodfellows Christmas Fund. Tables were decorated with arrangements of evergreens, ornaments and Christmas candles. Members of the committee were Catherine Veenker, Erma Aron and Roberta Brown, representing the grade and Jacqueline Schulz, Margaret Carney, and Mrs. Clayton Patrick, of the high school faculty. Dinner was prepared by Mrs.

Mr. and Mrs. Anton Hucgerlch and Mrs. Mary Berger and daughter. Josephine, went to Sioux City Tuesday to visit Mrs.

and Mrs. Leo Bernhard of Park Rapids, arrived Tuesday for a few days' visit with Mr. Bernhnrd's sister. Mrs. George J.

Hess, and family. They are en route to Clearwater, for the winter. Brownie Scouts Are Entertained Mrs. H. F.

Wickenkamp and Mrs. Edward S. White, leader and assistant leader of a Brownie Scout Troop, onlertainod the youngsters at a Chrislmas party in Mrs. Wickcnkamp's home Tuesday afternoon. Seven of the eight members were present.

The Brownies played games and gathered around the Christmas tree to sing carols, They also had a gift exchange. Refreshments were served and candy canes were given as favors.
