Dr. O. E. Goddard of this city returned Friday from Waynesville, X. where he had been attending the general missionary conference of the M.

E. chorch south. Dr. Goddard says this is the greatest missionary conference he has ever attended. There were thousands of people there from ail over the south and many returned missionaries.

During the conference an offering was made for mission amounting to more than one hundred and fifty thousand dollars. Dr. Goddard win give a report of this conference at the St. PauFs church Sunday morning and at the First M. E.

Every year for the past five years the people who lire in the 500 block on Lawrence street have held a neighborhood picnic on the lawn of some one of the homes in that block on th Fourth of July.
