Cernan and Jack Schmitt were winding up their chores near the lunar rover when missiles started sailing over their heads. Schmitt, the scientist, was unperturbed. "It's that styrofoam off the high gain antenna package," he explained. "My God, it blew up," said Cernan. "Yep," said Schmitt.

"I thought we were the closest witnesses to a lunar meteor impact," said Cernan. The styrofoam packing on an antenna on the moon buggy had disintegrated. Astronaut John the same thing happen to him on the Apollo 15 mission. "I thought you were kH- dfag," said Schmitt. "I'd never seen that before," said Cernan.

"Oh, I'm sorry, I thought that was Schmitt. "You just, well, you saw that stuff coming. I didn't see that at all," said Cernan. "Holey Smoley." Inmates Go On Hunger Strike PHILADELPHIA (UPI) All but about 250 of the 1,140 inmates at Holmesburg Prison began a hunger strike Monday, protesting what they said was the failure of prison officials to implement promised reforms. Only a few hundred prisoners showed up at meals, while the majority of the inmates remained locked in their cells on orders from Warden Joseph P.

McGowan. Edmund A. Lyons, assistant superintendent of prison oper- ations for Philadelphia, said the prisoners, circulated a petition that listed the following demands: contact with visitors, instead of talking with a telephone instrument through glass partitions. milk every day. of leaking cell block skylights.

for all prison workers. Lyons said that a majority of prison workers also refused to go to prison shops Monday. He also said some visitors were allowed at Holmesburg Monday afternoon.
