HBP By Martz (Cey). 2:30. King loses temper, match in Berlin BERLIN Veteran Billie Jean King was ousted from the $100,000 German Open tennis tournament Tuesday by Duk Hee Lee of South Korea, 2-6, 6-3, 6-2. King, seeded sixth, appeared to be in control of the match when two disputed line calls and her quick temper turned things around. The 38-year-old American, six time singles winner at Wimbledon, was leading 6-2, 3-5 when she served what she thought was an ace on her second serve at the beginning of the ninth game.

The umpire called the ball a fault and an annoyed King protested and refused to play until the referee was called. After a 5-minute delay, play got under way again, but four games later the umpire ran into more trouble when he gave King an extra serve after a ballboy had moved during play. That decision upset the South Korean although she kept her cool to win the match. Patricia Medrado of Brazil and Lena Sandin of Sweden also both upset seeded players, while 15-year-old American Kathy Rinaldi scored the most convincing victory of the day, trouncing 35-year-old Hungarian Marie Pinterova, 6-0, 48 minutes. Medrado, a Clay court expert, beat ninth-seeded Sandy Collins of Odessa, Texas, 6-2, 5-7, 6-2, and Sandin registered a 2-6, 6-4, 6-4 victory over New Yorker JoAnne Russell.

Triathlete to compete at UNR Shawn Wilson, a star triathlete from Carmichael, plans to compete in swimming and cross country for the University of Nevada-Reno next season. Wilson, 19, was the youngest woman finisher in the Ironman Triathlon in Hawaii in February. She finished 10th among women after finishing first in the women's 2.4-mile swimming competition. Wilson was timed in 12 hours, 25 minutes, 34 seconds for the swim, a 112-mile bicycle ride and marathon run. Wilson swims in AAU competition under the coaching of Sherm Chaboor, who coached Mark Spitz in Carmichael and guided the U.S.

Olympic team in 1968 and '72. Senior golf championships Paul Colell of Reno will defend his title in the Nothern Nevada Seniors Championship at Washoe County Golf Course Saturday and Sunday. Divisions in the northern Nevada tournament include freshmen (50-54), sophomores (55-59), juniors (60-64), seniors (65-69) and grand seniors (70 and older). The deadline for tournament entries is Thursday at 5 p.m. Cribbage correction Henry Dall of Carson City and Butch Dall of Reno won the World Championship of Cribbage on Saturday in Quincy, Calif. Their last name was misspelled in Monday's editions of the Nevada State Journal and Reno Evening Gazette.

Soviets big on Olympics MOSCOW The Soviet Union is planning to send 1,000 athletes and officials to the Los Angeles Olympics, the largest delegation expected at the 1984 Summer Games, the U.S. organizing chief said today. Peter V. Ueberroth, the Los Angeles Games chairman, said Soviet sports officials told him they planned a team, two-thirds of them competitors and the others coaches and functionaries. Ueberroth said Soviet sports officials assured him they would send a large team to Los Angeles despite their harsh attacks on preparations for the Games.

The Soviets have complained about private financing of the Games, housing for athletes, competition sites and the Games organizers. He said many of the Soviet complaints were valid and the purpose of his trip to the Soviet Union was to confer on those questions and seek Soviet advice. East Germany, another Olympic powerhouse, is planning to send a 500-member team and Poland 250 athletes and officials. Orioles' Murray sidelined BALTIMORE First baseman Eddie Murray of the Baltimore Orioles, bothered for the last three weeks by an ailing left hand and wrist, was told Tuesday that he is suffering from tendinitis. The diagnosis was made by a local specialist after the Orioles returned from a West Coast road trip in which Murray started in only six of the 11 games.

In his last 18 games, Murray has batted .156 with only three extra base hits as his averaged dropped from .509 to .350. Murray will continue to undergo treatment and is expected to be sidelined for another four to five Have REDWOOD NCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS At Athens, Ga. GOLF New York Daily News Tom Seaver faces the Mets in Shea Stadium tonight. Seaver defeated New York twice last year, but he has been struggling in the early part of the '82 campaign. He is cvr-rently 1-4, with a 6.07 ERA, and those stats, coupled with the solid ball New York has been playing, make the Mets our choice Tim Loliar pitched his first and only bad game of the year last time out vs.

Montreal. The left-hander still owns a 2.67 ERA and should rebound against the Cardinals. Choice here to San Diego Paul Spfittortf has been in the American League for 13 years, and only two teams have a better than .500 record against him. Those clubs are California and tonight's opponent, New York. The Yanks beat him twice last year, and, with Tommy John on the mound, should do it again this evening.

Go with New York Fx those who don't shy away from the big favorites, Steve Carlton was near perfect (two-hitter) last time out, and should easily handle the light-hitting Astros. Summer Membership Special UCLA wins tennis crown ATHENS, Ga. UCLA tennis star Blaine Wil-lenborg said he had nightmares about losing before his 5-7, 6-3, 6-2 victory over John Van Nostrand clinched the Bruins' 5-1 victory over Pepperdine for UCLA's 14th NCAA tennis championship. Willenborg's victory Tuesday came in the No. 3 singles after Pepperdine's Glenn Michibata defeated UCLA's Marcel Freeman 6-3, 6-3 and UCLA's Robbie Venter downed Pepperdine Brad Gilbert 6-3, 6-4. iL Earlier in the day, Southern Methodist defeated Georgia 5-1 to take third place in the National Collegiate Athletic Association tournament, played on the University of Georgia campus Play was scheduled to begin today in the individual competition in singles and doubles.

The UCLA-Pepperdine match was not taken into the doubles, since the Bruins already had clinched the victory in the singles. "Momentum is very important in a ma ch like this," UCLA Coach Glenn Bassett said After Robbie (Venter) won, everybody seemed to pick up and it all started snowballing. I real wasn looking to win this in the singles. I'm real happy for our seniors. They've had four great years and this is a great way for them to go out."
