LAVERNE BEIERMANN were married recently in the Church of the Nativity in Washington, D. C. The bride is the former Miss Elaine Fay, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James M.

Fay of Washington, and Mr. Beiermann is'the son of Mr. and Mrs. Leo Beiermann of jerseyvilfe. He is employed by'the U.

S. Air Force Wage Board in Washington. The couple are residing in Hunting Towers, Alexandria-, by Southall. Personal Notes Olbbons-Raef Wedding James R. Gibbons, son of Mr.

and Mrs. John F. Gibbons of Delhi, and Miss Arlett Raef, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Anthony Raef of Peru, 111., will be married Saturday morning in St.

Mary's Church, Peru. Among the guests will be Mr. Gibbons' parents and sister, Miss Josephine Gibbons, of Delhi, and brother and sister- in-law, Mr. and Mrs. J.

Gregory Gibbons of Jerseyville. J. Gregory Gibbons will be his brother's best man, and Miss Gibbons will be one of Miss Raef's attendants. Mr. Gibbons and bride will reside on Creve Coeur Peru.

Mr. Gibbons, who has his master's degree from the University of Illinois, is a teacher of vocational agriculture in the La Salle-Peru High School. To Omit DeMolay- Rainbow Dance Regular Friday night dance, sponsored by DeMolay and Rainbow will not be given this week. The Chevaliers of Alton Chapter DeMolay are sponsoring their annual excursion this Friday evening on the steamer Admiral out of St. Louis, and a large group of young people w-11 be in attendance.

Special chartered buses will leave Franklin Masonic Temple at 7:15. Tickets for the trip may he purchased at the temple this evening between the hours 7 to 9. Regular weekly dance will take place Friday evening of next week, June 26 with the DeMolay band and some special numbers providing the entertainment for the evening. P. E.

Ned Cooper on Humbert road, for a reunion. Of 10 graduates, six were present. There were two classes graduated in 1941, one in the spring and one in the fall and the reunion Wednesday was for members of the September class. Those attending were Mrs. Don Purcell, Mrs.

Lewis Morgan and Mrs. Cooper, Alton; Mrs. Robert Beirshank, Belleville; Mrs. Harry Smith, East Alton; Miss Lenora Bell, St. Louis.

Members unable to be present were Mrs. W. W. Weeks, Austin, Tex. Mrs.

Robert Quinn, Peoria; Mrs. Claude Ferrier, Lansing, and Mrs. Kennet Schmutzler, DeRay Beach, Fla. A covered dish dinner was served at 7 o'clock and later in the evening the members spent the time reminiscing. Eagles Auxiliary Delegates to Jollet Delegates from Alton Eagles Auxiliary, 254, and from Jerseyville Eagles Auxiliary, 2747, left at noon today for Joliet to attend the Eagles Auxiliary state convention convening from June 18-21.

Mrs. Lester Kite, president, and Mrs. Frank McElrath, past president of the Alton Auxiliary, and Mrs. Charles Fuchs and Mrs. Theresa Haun, president and past president from the Jerseyville Auxiliary, are the delegates attending.

Mrs. McElrath is chairman of the state by-laws committee, and Mrs. Fuchs is a member of the state ritualistic team. Kappa Pal Sub-Debs With Miss Acker The Kappa Psi Sub-Debs will meet at o'clock this evening at the home of Miss Jean Acker on Mound St. Mrs.

Morgenroth three sons and two grandsons. Mrs. Ernest Gernigin of 432 East Eighth is recuperating following an attack of sciatia. Charles Krepel and son, Dickie, of Lancaster, are visiting this week with Charles Krepel's mother, Mrs. Clara Krepel, 1807 State and with other relatvies.

Mr. Krepel and his son plan to leave Saturday to return to their home. Mr. and Mrs. C.

E. Johnson of Granite City and Mrs. Ruth Hoover and son, Gerald, Alton, returned Wednesday from a west- second annual June recital. Miss Shirley Roose and' Mrs. Dorothy Lockhart will be accompanists.

Bobby Stamper will be master of ceremonies, and the Misses Josie Lowe, Irma Geist, Carolyn Walker, and Betty Hendrix will be ushers. Miss Zimmer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Steve Zimmer, 838 Washington plans to open a dance studio in Alton this summer. Mullink-Ray Engagement Announced Mr.

and Mrs. John L. Ray, Woodburn, are announcing the engagement of their youngest daughter, Billie Jean, to Leonard Mullink, son of Mr. and Mrs. Antone Mullink, Bunker Hill.

Miss Ray is a student at Bunker Hill High School. Mullink graduated in 1951. Wedding plans are indefinite, Birthday Party for John J. O'Donovan John J. O'Donovan was nine years old Wednesday, and to mark the occasion his parents, Mr.

and Mrs. Glenn Cook, 3640 Western entertained with a birthday party from 6 to 8:30 o'clock. The cowboy theme was used in party decorations, and the birthday cake was topped by a simulated corral. Favors presented each boy were also in the western motif. Games were played by the youngsters and those receiving prizes were Robert Cleveland, Billy Miller, Mike Settinger, and Butch Chester.

Others present were David Chester, Kennoth Ruyle, Michael Hartnett, Stexen Balehelor, Ricky Ghent. Hobin Lahlein, and Gary Dean Cook, brother of John J. Mrs. Kenneth Huyle assisted Mrs. Cook in ing refreshments.

A native of Ireland Father McGuinness observed his 45th anniversary of ordination June 14. The Rev. Joseph A. Gschwend, S. of Oshkosh, is leaving Friday morning for St.

Mary's, after a visit with relatives. He will visit Chicago, New York and other places before returning to Oshkosh. Miss Pat Vine is enjoying a vacation stay in California, and on June 20 will arrive in Greeley, to take a six weeks' course at the Colorado State College at Greeley. Miss Vine, a teacher in the Crystal Lake (111.) school system, visited her parents, Mr. and Mrs.

and Mrs. William Wilken of 700 Linden Ave. Mr. Siebert is regional representative for Valparaiso University. I Missouri Synod Sets Mission Goal Dr.

Behnlsen Re-elected President HOUSTON A goal for at least 120 new missions annually in North and South America has been adopted by the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod. The synod's 42nd triennial vention also has instructed its board for home missions to conduct studies designed to aid rural churches and congregations in congested metropolitan areas. An expanded missions program received attention Wednesday after the convention's opening business session had re-elected Dr. John W. Behnken, St.

Louis, as president of the synod. It was the seventh time for the be elected term. Other actions taken at the first business session Included: Adoption' of a by-laws change to provide that only one-half of the members of the boards of control of the various colleges and seminaries will leave office after each convention. This was done to assure holdover members. Adoption of a resolution direct- Ing that no member of the synod make statements to the press or grant interviews without approval of the convention public relations committee.

Wednesday in Wood River Township Hospital He is their first child and weighed seven pounds and eleven ounces. Mrs. Crane will be remembered as the former Miss Bonita Brooks, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Brooks of Bethalto.

Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Stevenin of Route 1, Edwardsville, are parents of a daughter, whom they have named Cynthia Dee. The baby weighing five pounds and nine ounces, uas born at 4:45 p. m.

Mr. and Mrs. Jamei McElroy oi Dorchester have announced, the Vacation Bible School of the First Baptist Church will bring the two weeks vacation school to a close with a program at 7:30 o'clock Friday evening. 1 Exhibits of articles made by the students will be displayed and after the program a social hour will follow. Parents and friends of the children are welcome to attend.

There have been 106 enrolled, and 65 certificates of perfect attendance will be presented. The program will include the opening hymn, "This is My Father's World," scripture reading by Janette Robinson, prayer by the Rev. Roland E. Turnbull, and a trio by the Misses Mary Highsmith, Dona Stewart, and Betty Highsmith. The beginner, primary and Junior departments will give Bible verse readings and will present choral singing and the rhythm band.

Harold photo. 115 Attend First Annual Memorial Reunion June 17 Alumna of Alton Memorial tal School of Nursing from at far west as California and Olegon, south to Kentucky, and north to Michigan, returned to Alton thit week for the first annual homecoming of the school which graduated its first class In 1941. Of the 276 graduates, 115 attended the reunion. Eight states were represented, with the greatest number coming from Missouri and Illinois. Preceding the homecoming luncheon Wednesday at the hospital, Individual reunions of the various classes were held at the homes of the Alton, graduates.

From 10 a. m. until noon the graduates were taken for a tour of the hospital and of Mary and Martha hails. At 12:30 o'clock luncheon was served in the student and graduate dining rooms with the welcoming address given by Mrs. James Sawyer, president of the Alumna Association and a member of the first graduating class.

Mrs. Lee Russell of the class of '42, was mistress of ceremonies and the invocation was by Miss Dorothea Clock. Miss Mary Ollesh of Decatur, a freshman in the nursing school, sang two vocal selections. Special guests included Miss Eunice Smith, who was presented a bouquet of roses in appreciation of the many things she has done for the hospital and the student nurses; Charles R. Freeman, hospital administrator, and Miss Virginia Cramblett, director of nurses.

Do; Kitten A dog which risked its lift to rescue a kitten it wasn't even acquainted with won the accolade of people in Wellington, New Zealand. It was a three-year-old sheep-dog. The kitten had been washed offshore by a heavy surf and carried 100 yards into the sea. The dog swam to the rescue and with the kittefj in its mouth made for itt own home, taking a short cut by jumping a high wooden gate. 7:30 to 9 o'clock this evening at the Mineral Springs Hotel.
