Jones, who came to TV in 1966 from the London and Broadway stages, has been renewing his acquaintance with the stage since the cancellation of the series. "Some people looked down on 'The but look at what I got: two years in front of the camera, learning what to do." What he didn't get, however, is what is troubling the English native now. "As a Monkee, the four of us earned only $450 a week, with most of our cut from personal appearances put back into promotion costs.

Supposedly some $38 million was made in the two years the show was on the air and we were supposed to share 5 per cent. I'm suing now because we didn't get it," Jones explained. Should "Pop!" lead to more TV for the young man, he'll be a better businessman this time. By BARBARA HOLSOPPLE "Press TV-Radio Editor David Jones, once the darling of the teeny-bopper crowd as one of the rock 'n roll singers on "The Monkees," returns to television tomorrow in a children's special. "Pop!" is a musical-comedy variety show airing on Channel 4 at 1:30 p.m. Isn't it wonderful that somebody finally chooses to air a kiddie special in kiddie time? In addition to its host, the one-hour special will feature the Osmond Brothers, the Mike Curb Congregation and Sunday's Child. With all that music, the young audience will get an ecology lesson and some odd bits of information, including how a record is made.

Jones, now a married man of 26 with two young daughters, is glad to get back into television since his four-year hiatus. "As Davy Jones of "The I couldn't even walk down the street without nearly being attacked. We spent quite a lot of time locked in hotel rooms. The special, which aired last spring, is being shown at the Visitors Convention Center in Sverigehuset, Sweden.

Harriet Nelson of the old "Ozzie and Harriet Show" has been signed to play a corpse on a segment of "Rod Serling's Night Gallery" for fall. ABC reportedly has bought another British comedy called "Up Pompeii!" that is set in that ancient Roman city. No word on what will be done with it, but undoubtedly we won't see it for another year or so. The new contract calls for Sunday games to start at 3 p. instead of 2 p. and for two regular season prime-time telecasts and at least one prime-time show during the Stanley Cup playoffs.

Sweden has begun a daily film showing DAVID JONES Wishing or the hectic lije. "This children's show is not a pilot, just a special. But to me it's a pilot. I needed to know that I could still do television. When I haven't done something for awhile, I begin to wonder if I still can," he explained.
