The truce was further threatened by the erection of barricades in Belfast and 11 other communities by militant Protestants in protest against so-called "no-go" Roman Catholic districts of Londonderry. Catholic barricades have sealed off the Bogside and Creggan districts to British security forces for almost a year. They are manned by members nf the militant provisional wing of the Irish Republican Army (IRA). Police reported several gun duels between Protestant and Catholic extremists in Belfast in addition to the other shootings during the night and early morning hours. A spokesman for the Protestant United Defense Association said the barricades would remain in four areas, but the others would be torn down after the weekend.

EAVIR A(R R-y IP SI PR'JSJ -n ti St. iL vmmm NEW YORK it'PIi -American chess champion Bobby Fischer Is keeping his Russian opponent waiting and the world watching. The temperamental Fischer, who three times mysteriously postponed his departure for Reykjavik. Iceland, at the minute, risked permanent disqualification from world championship play today.

He failed last night to hoard the last regularly scheduled flight from the United States to Iceland which would get him there in time for the start of the matches with Russia's Boris Spassky. There were reports Fischer had asked for a two-day postponement in the start of the tournament and Dr. Max Euwe, president of the International Chess Federation, said in opening ceremonies in Iceland that a postponement could be granted. Others said Fischer would be disqualified if he did not appear. The matches were scheduled to start at 5 p.m.

(1 p.m. EDT) today. Fischer was in hiding yesterday and his lawyer, Paul H. Marshall, would say only, "I expect Bobby Fischer to do the proper thing for Bobby Fischer." But a longtime friend and fellow international grand master, the Rev. William Lombard who talked to Fischer Friday, predicted he would arrive in Reykjavik in time for the match, settle his differences with the promoters over money, play Spassky and win the title.

"He gives indication of going and playing." Lombardy said. "A man who is that confident about his own skill is not going to pass up the oppor-t i to play over some minor details which can be ironed out." Another Fischer attorney, Andrew Davis, remained on a flight to Reykjavik when Fischer bolted Friday and was negotiating with the president of the Icelandic Chess Federation, Gudmundur Thorarins- Hit-Run Pair Drop Victim In Manhole LOS ANGELES (LTIi A South Korean woman was fhovod down a manhole and left for dead by two men who had hit her with their car at an intersection, police said.
