He may vary the intensity of attacks. But his biggest problem will be to keep the the bounds which he has set.

The President is under two opposing pressures on this phase of his Vietnamese war strategy. Many foreign governments and critics of his Vietnamese sons advanced here for continuing the bombing are both military and diplomatic: 1. Attacks on military bases, supply centers, and supply lines in the North reduce the ability of North Viet Nam to send men and arms to the Communist forces fighting in the South, officials say. No one now argues that this is a decisive contribution to the U.S. and Allied operations in the South but they do argue that it is an important contribution to the ultimate defeat of the Red ground forces.

2. The bombing of the North makes North Viet Nam feel the weight of war and in this broad sense is a retaliatory action for North Viet Nam's assistance to the Communist forces in the south. College students, farmers and factory workers were doing military exercises.

These were among the filmed sights in Sunday night's ing "Voice of the Dragon" on NBC, It was edited from material shot by a French camera team during a three-month trip through Red China. Quite obviously, the film was made with the blessing of the Bed Chinese government. There were earnest group leaders lecturing attentive students on Communist ideology, anti- American street demonstrations, hard-working peasants tilling fields and, building roads. There were festivals and big gatherins and well-fed chil- ren. i brief and almost unbelievable interview with an English-speaking Chinese who told of his family's former interests banks, mines, lumber shipping and then said he was proud of China now because it was strong.

Accompanying films, however, wai penetrating narration written by Gtrtld Green. It cut through the puffery while discounting none of the terrible potentials of this nation of 700 million whole Communist rulers are systematically teaching its people today of the United States, With American reporters barred from Red China, films of life there are rare for television viewers. It was a most interesting hour. The sobering news and public affairs shows were the most Important part of the television weekend, but notice should be taken of one particularly bright show Danny Thomas 1 NBC special Sunday eight, consisting of music, discing and noojeose, all filmed on the back lot of one of the great Hollywood film studios. The show moved from "New York Street" and wasn't that the entrance to "U.N.C.L.E." headquarters in the background? around the corner to a Paris cafe and then on to war rubble, a castle, even a pirate ship in the studio lake.

Thomas' guest stars were attractive Mitzi Gaynor who sang and danced and Jim Nabors, whose fine singing voice always surprises "Corner Pyle" fans. "Garry Moore's People Poll" on ABC Friday was designed purely for amusement and entertainment. The statistics were completely incidental to some interesting interviews with pretty ordinary people deftly handled by Moore who has been away from television too long. Recommended tonight: "Hello Dolly, Round the World," NBC, 8-10 EST, an account of the musical show's Far Eastern tour, narrated by its star, Mary Martin. D.

C. Davis, the port's lawyer- traffic manager, won an important decision for Lake Charles at Dallas last week during hearings of the Texas-Louisiana Freight Bureau.
