Johnson With His Wife on Their Way to Visit Daughter in Idaho. pButte, June Joseph JtjfJohnBon, 84 years old, of Neosho, Mjjpi, died on a train near here to day while en route to Lewiston, with his wife to visit their daughter who resides there. June Johnson, civil war veteran and well- tpfflo resident of Neosho, came to Nftocho two years ago from Monett, wTijere he lived for a number of years. He and his wife left here Wednesday night for Lewiston, to visit their daughter.

He appeared in good health at the time of their departure. Besides the daughter in Idaho a daughter residing at Sapulpa, and a son, Edward Johnson of- Andersofo. survive. was not known here tonight what disposition of the body will be made, whether it will be Neosho for burial or buried in the west. LONE SCOUT CONFERENCE POSTPONED INDEFINITELY A county Lone Scout conference, scheduled for June 8 at Neck City, which has been postponed indefinitely, County Deputy Milford.D.

The conference probably will be held in September at Alba. The purpose of the conference is to organize a Jasper county unit of Lone Scouts. Joe J. Manlove, candidate for the republican nomination for congressman from the Fifteenth district, lia3 begun his campaign in earnest.

He has opened up headquarters in room No 313, Miners bank building, and is busy' mailing letters to personal friends over southwest Missouri. Manlove stated that, he is not going to direct his campaign entirely through men and old-time politicians, declaring that he believes women should be given more recognition in politics. Women should be given special attention, he said, because they recently have become an influence In politics. He stated that so far as ho is concerned he believes they should be given every conslderatiln possible by the republican party, and intends to invite into His closest confidence and co-operation the women voters of the district. ROARING RIVER DAM CONTRACT AWARDED Kansas City Kngineering Firm Will Begin Work at to Bo Work of constructing a new dam at. Roaring 1 Hiver pleasure resort, about eight miles south and a HtMe east of Cassville, in Barry county, wil'l begin immediately. The examination was in connection with the county schol teachers examinations. The applicants are Walter Cochran of Carthage route, No. 1, a pupil at the Mayflower school; Don Elliott, Carthage, route No. 4, a of the Monitor school, and Leonard Headlee of Jasper, route No. 5, a pupil of the Liberty school.

One boy of school age from each county in the state is entitled to attend the state fair school with all expenses paid, including board and lodging and admission to the fair grounds. The school is in charge of competent instructors, who accompany the pupils in visit- in gall important features of tha fair. According to Mr. Colley, it will probably be several days before the result of the examination is known. RESIDENT OF PROSPERITY FOR THIRTY YEARS DIES Carterville, June Masters, 42 years old, died at 9:30 o'clock laslnight, less than twenty-four hours after thi birth of a daughter to his wife, on the Ben C.
