You can catch a preview of Mahesh Jan. 19 on the Johnny Carson late-hour Lou Rawls, who will be available to Silver Circle crowds in June at Harvey's, caught his first gold disk "Lou Rawls Live," an album of the Rawls Director Otto Preminger signed a wild pair, Jackie Gleason and Carol Channing, for his film "Skidoo," a comedy on the hippie-establishment confrontation with gangsters who consider themselves the symbol of respectable society. ilSlIlIlIllililSB i PREMIERE PERFORMANCE in Reno by th Utah Civic Ballet will be in the new Pioneer Theatre Auditorium, Feb. 23 through 24.

William Christensen, founder of the San Francisco Ballet and the Utah Civic Ballet, will present acts from Tchaikovsky'i "Swan Lake" and three other exciting ballets. The dancers rehearsing are part of the troupe of 32. The ballet will be presented for the benefit of the Nevada Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Evening performances will bt Friday at 8:00 p.m. and matinee performance will be Saturday at 2:30 p.m.

Evening crowds, taking a break from the ski slopes to enjoy Nevada-style fun, are treated to a fast paced performance in the Nevada Lodge's Topaz Room. Bobby Roger's group is composed of three talented musicians who play ten instruments among them a dazzling display of virtuosity with a repertoire "JUNGLE BOOK," playing its last week at Century 21, stars Baloo, the bear (Phil Harris), Mowgli (Bruce Reicher-man) and Bagheera, the panther (Sebastian Cabot) as well as George Sanders, Sterling Holloway Jr. and Louis Prima. Nanette's It Club Is importing most of the dancers from the Bay area. Mrs. Bill Mathews, University of Nevada music student who won the scholarship from the Winners is the name of Harolds Club employes, scored again with the state auditions for the Metropolitan Opera and will compete in the regionals In Los Angeles next Mapes Hotel has booked Curtain Calls for Jan. 25, which are new to Reno but have played Tahoe, and Satan Sinners, a musical revue slated for Jan. 30...

Lulu Porter, the cute singer-performer In the Primadonna's production for the last two summers, plays a coast-to-coast Woody Woodbury tver then she is off for a stint at the Atlanta Playboy Club Jan. 2... Ron Steven's Lemmon Tree has another adult rock band, Van-Dells, which swings with numbers like "Purple Haze." Organist Billy Preston, a Ray Charles protege now leading his own group In Harrah's Casino Cabaret, visited the Tree and caught the group last Hilda DeFluiter, trap shooter rep for Holiday Hotel, says she will leave the hotel and take a vacation before making new plans. The two performed together for 10-15 years until about four years ago. Maize just got back to town from Vietnam last fall when the two teamed up again. This time it is in a culinary capacity making pizzas in Casseneri's Hoagie House. THINKING ON A GIANT SCALE for the way they were treated during their "Young Audiences of Reno" Children's Concert held at the Centennial Coliseum recently, more than 6,000 grade school children from Washoe County's public and parochial schools showed their appreciation to one of the featured guests of the program, Bertha the elephant. On behalf of all the youngsters in attendanceMildred Can-trell's sixth grade Veteran's Memorial class made this huge "Thank You" card for Bertha, who performed during the Intermission.
