She fell out of her game after double bogeying her ninth hole, the par-4 18th. Her approach shot fell well short of the green, about a foot behind a wood railing. Instead of laying up, Granada attempted to pitch over the railing, but whiffed. She angrily threw down her club with the grandstand looking on.

Tiger Woods' winning streak is over no matter what tour he is playing- In a shocking end to a PGA Tour streak that began in July, Woods failed to notice a ball mark in the line of his 4-foot birdie putt that would have won his third-round match against Nick O'Hern. Woods missed, then lost in 20 holes when the Australian saved par with a 12-foot putt Friday at the Accenture Match Play Championship. That finished off the second-longest streak in tour history. It is rare that Woods makes such a gaffe, and misses such a short putt with so much riding on the outcome One hole earlier, he hit a sand wedge to 5 feet and made the birdie putt to extend the match, completing a rally in which he was four holes behind after seven holes, and still trailed by three with eight holes left.

O'Hern became the first player to beat Woods twice in professional match play. The straight-hitting lefty also beat Woods in the second round at La Costa two years ago. Byron Nelson's record of 11 straight tour victories in 1945 again looks as untouchable as ever. Woods had won seven in a row although the purity of the streak was in question because he had failed to win four times during that streak while competing on other tours. O'Hern advanced to play Henrik Stenson, who defeated Aaron Baddeley, 4 and 3.

Unless Wohlford alters his career goals, the Ball State University junior will become in the near future an outstanding teacher and coach.

The 2003 graduate of Columbus East pursues all interests with passion. Both his thinking and his actions are organized beyond his years. He abhors losing or just coming up short. And all of these characteristics have been in develop- ment since he was old enough to walk and talk. Currently, Wohlford is pursuing a degree in secondary education as a social studies major.

"I want to impact young people's lives," said Wohlford. "I want to help them grow." The former Olympian basketball star is not waiting for college graduation to begin doing his thing. He has been a fixture on Muncie Central's coaching staff for several months. He spends two hours daily at the Muncie Fieldhouse tutoring young men that make up the state's 4A No. 1-ranked Bearcats.

"My official label is JV assistant," said Wohlford "I scout, work with the big guys and do anything they need. I think the players connect with me." Wohlford's connection to one of Indiana's most hallowed roundball programs came as no accident. "I had a practicum at the school," said Wohlford. "Coach (Matt) Fine is a math teacher. I asked and he said I could help.

It's a great opportunity. He is giving me a chance to get started." Not many have had the opportunity to start the journey up the ladder on a rung so rich in tradition. As a young Indiana basketball historian, Wohlford is soaking up every ounce of his experience "It's awesome," he said. "Every day I walk in there and see those eight (state championship) banners, I think 'Wow. I can just feel coach (Bill) Harrell and those teams from the past.

So whenever I'm in there, I want to do something to help uphold the tradition." Central (18-2) was the state runner-up the past two seasons, dropping the title game each year to Greg Oden and Co. at Lawrence North. The young assistant is optimistic. "Anything short of getting to the final game will be a disappointment," he said. "I like our chances.

This is a really good team." And like most good coaching staffs, Central's is leaving nothing to chance When we talked, Wohlford was on the way back to campus after a scouting trip to view first-round sectional opponent Greenfield-Central, a winner of only four games. "We don't leave any stone unturned," he said. Pre-tourney tidbits Through last weekend, LA teams in Indiana had a 7-33 record against 4A teams.
