Drive-by victim sentenced for pot BY CHRIS SCHILLING A victim of the drive-by shooting outside an East Columbus bar last year was sentenced Tuesday for possession of marijuana. Jose 0.

Camacho, 35, of Seymour, was given a 97-day sentence for the Class felony and was given credit for already serving the time in jail while the case was pending. However, Immigration and Customs Enforcement has placed a hold on Camacho, and he will be detained at Bartholomew County Jail for immigration officials. Camacho was arrested in August after police stopped him for traveling at 48 mph in a 40-mph zone, according to a probable cause affidavit. Police said Camacho acted nervous when asked if he had any weapons or contraband in the vehicle, but he gave officers consent to search his car. An officer found marijuana in a seat pocket, the affidavit states.

Camacho pleaded guilty to the possession charge in October. Camacho was one of three people injured in a November 2008 drive-by shooting that killed Roberto Flores, 29, of Columbus, outside El Paraiso bar on State Street. A probable cause affidavit in the shooting alleged that the shooter, Moises Osorio-Ramirez, fired at Flores and Camacho because the men "had cheated him in a cocaine deal" before the night of the shooting. Osorio pleaded guilty to murder and battery charges and is serving a 67-year prison sentence. Another victim in the shooting, Jose Abrego, 27, was charged recently with two counts of dealing cocaine, both Class A felonies, in a round up of suspected powder cocaine dealers.
