Shoppers Jam Fort Stores city's gaily decorated shopping district played -host to a record-breaking throng Friday and today. Helping to the gay holiday gpirit in tlus shopping crowds were Christmas carols which sounded over the city throughout the day evening. The music, transcribed from wire recordings in the Chamber of Commerce office, is heard from twin amplifiers set on the roof of the Black Hawk hotel. Friday was pay-day in a major portion of Fort Atkinson's Industries and employes and their fam- iles were busy completing their lists. In each business place the picture was the same.

Augmented eales went at tap speed to service the wants of Oieir customers and stockroom em- ployes were kept busy replenishing with gift merchandise. Local stores will remain open both Monday and Tuesday evenings of next week and on Christmas eve they will lock their doors 6 p. m. Wk SoMhisM About 35 of the Lenda-Hand society met Friday afternoon. Plans for the sunshine baskets to be distributed for Christmas were completed and each member brought Christmas cookies to be included in the sunshine carols were sung by tha group and the afternoon closed with lunch served by the afternoon's hostesses.

Honor Bride Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Mussehl entertaining a group of young people at open house Dec. 27 in honor of their daughter, Shari Ann whose marriage to Howard John Cook took place Oct. 4.

Mrs. Cook has been attending MacMurray college and Mr. Cook is a student at the University of Wisconsin. Mr. and Mrs.

Harold Mittag. student at McAlister college, St. Paul, arrived today to spend the Christmas holidays with his brother and sister- in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Chester Mittag and family.

Mr. and Mrs. James Gates, Madison, and Mis Ann Dexheimer, Beloit college, came Friday to spend the holiday vacation at the home of their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Dexheimer.

Mrs. Claude Dexheimer, house director at Maurer Hall, Beloit college, will spend the holiday vacation with her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Kressin. Mrs.

Amil Dexheimer suffered a badly cut finger on her left hand Friday noon. Mrs. Dexheimer was removing candy from a dish and the knife which was using slip- 'ped and went entirely through the middle finger of the hand. Several were necessary to close the wound. Mrs.

Frank Baker will have as Christmas guests at her home her two granddaughters, Misses Janet and Carolyn Rqyce, Savannah, Ga. They are daughters of Mr. and Mrs. H. B.

Royce. Mrs. Elizabeth Almeroth was hostess Wednesday to 25 members of the staff of Fort Memorial hospital at a Christmas party. Games and stunts and a "Mr. 'and Mrs.

Hush" program were featured. Mrs. Elsie May was presented with her private pilot's wings as a gift from tiie group. Miss Marie Gobel substituted for Santa Claus and distributed gifts. The home were highlighted by a large Christmas tree.

Mrs. Almeroth, Mrs. May and Mary Wand- 'schneider had charge of the luncheon and games. MhsicinAir at Lake Mills Lake amplifiers in the city park broadcast music every night until Thursday, Dec. 25.

Mrs. Ed Pirwitz will again play the organ chime at the Moravian church from 7 to 7:30 nightly. This is an annual practice and the, chimes have been played each Christmas season since 1940 when they were installed. The chimes will a'so be amplified. From 7:30 to 8 p.

m. nightly all Lake Mills will present their programs to the downtown shoppers. They will broadcast from Moose hall. The new recorder machine at the high school will be used to broadcast music of the school band and mixed chorus. Franklin E'se's band and mixed chorus will present a Christmas pot-pourri by Ronald Prescott.

There will also be three numbers by the mixed chorus. Every evening from 8 to 8:15 recorded Christmas music will be played. Sponsor Dance The Lake Millg Youth Council and the L-Cat Council sponsored a young people's "mistletoe" dance Friday night in the band room. Music was furnished by the high school orchestra known as the Wandering Blue Notes. Chaperones were Mr.

Konkel, Miss Frances zum Buttel and Mr. and Mrs. Thomas. Hold Christmas Party Thirty attended the Royal Neighbor Christmas party Tuesday. A short business meeting was held and it was decided to hold an open meeting for installation at the Jan.

A letter of thanks was read from Helen Vandre. The party began with a 7 o'clock potluck supper. Arthur Bleecker were Tuesday guests at the James Platos home, Watertown. On Wednesday they accompanied the Platos' to Milwaukee. Word was received of the death of Alpheus Faville who died at Wheatland, Saturday, Dec. 13, after a lingering illness. He is the son of Stoughton W.

Faville, Lake Mills, and a brother of Mrs. G. Peter White, Lake Mills. The only other survivor is his wife. A large lighted Christmas tree has been placed on the bandstand on the center of Main street, where a Christmas program will take place Tuesday night and Santa Claus will appear and distribute gifts to every child present. The Advancement association is sponsoring this event and plans to award prizes of $10, $5 and for the best home decoration as chosen by judges assigned for the contest.
