Hawkins, 80, Succumbs In Hospital WINAMAC, Ind. Mrs. Mary EUen Hawkins, 80, of the Star City community, died at 3 p.m. Thursday at the St. Joseph hospital in I Logansport after an illness of several weeks.

She was born in Ireland on Nov. 28, 1873. and came to Pulaski county in 1908 from Springfield, I I1L i She was married in Springfield on Oct. 28. 189S, to Martin Hawkins, who survives.

She also leaves two sons. John of Michigan City and Howard, New York; three daughters, Mrs. Agnes Cook, Columbus, Ohio, Mrs. Ursula Dale of Indianapolis and Mrs. Esther Locker of Monticello, Iowa; and three sisters, Mrs.

Delia Don- iao of Cincinnati, 0.. and two in Ireland whose names are not known. She was a member of the Daughters of Isabella and the Christian Mothers. Friends may call after 6 p.m. today at the Kennedy funeral home, where the Rosary will be recited Sunday evening.

Last services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at the St. Joseph church in Pulaski. The Rev. Father C.

INDIANAPOLIS Nearly two million Hoosiers watched threatening skies for tornadoes Thursday as twister warnings were posted for a seven hour period. But Indiana rode out the weather bureau's alert in midafternoon without even a severe thunder- storn. reported in an estimated 40 counties in the south and east; portions whore the warnings were hoisted. Heavy rains dumped up to three or more inches of precipitation on scattered communities, temperatures climbed high into the 60s, and strong winds whistled through the countryside with gusts up to 57 miles an hour.

At Indianapolis, nearly 500,000 inhabitants were cautioned to take shelter if ominous weather descended, winds of "moderate gale" proportions were recorded at Report Death Of White County Youth In Korea Cpl. Robert G. Minniear, former White county soldier who was reported missing in action in Korea since November 30, 1950, reportedly died ia a North Korean prisoner of war camp, according to word received by relatives from the Department of the Army. The letter revealed that the youth died March 13, 1952. Minniear was born in Battle Ground and attended school in Lafayette before coming to White county.

He went to the Chalmers and Stockwell high schools and joined the Army in August of 1949. A radio operator, he was assigned to an artillery unit in Korea in June of 1950. He was 19 years old when he was reported missing in the same year. Survivors include his father, Fletcher D. Minniear of Mon-on; a brother, Ralph, Brookston.
