25, 2001, at Heritage Regency. Mr. Irvin was a World War II Army veteran and retired Army major. He was retired from Pennsylvania Railroad, AVCO Corp. and Huffy Corp.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Mills Funeral Home, brothers; and a sister. Retired school cook Laura C. Phillips Seymour SEYMOUR Laura Caroline Phillips, 87, of Seymour died at 11:50 p.m. Saturday, 25, 2001, at Lutheran Community Home in Seymour.

Mrs. Phillips was retired as a cook at Immanuel Lutheran School cafeteria and had worked at Excel-lo Shirt Factory. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and Seymour Senior Citizens and enjoyed gardening. The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Myers Funeral Service, Burkholder Chapel, with the Rev.

Ralph Blomenberg officiating. Calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 9:30 a.m. to time of service Wednesday. Burial will be at Riverview Cemetery in Seymour.

Mrs. Phillips was born Sept. 24, 1913, in Dudleytown, the daughter of Edward W.H. and Lisette M. Thiele Schroer.

She married Edward H. Phillips April 12, 1944, in Jackson County. He died July 28, 1982. Survivors include sons, Ralph E. Wischmeier and Richard D.

Phillips, both of Seymour, and Gordon Phillips of Hayden; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; and sisters, Edna Heideman, Agnes Oberman, Verna Claycamp and Golda Thompson, all of Seymour. She was preceded in death by a son, Robert Phillips; a daughter, Ruth Phillips Long; and a grandson. 2000 CNHS graduate Tiffanie L. Silcox Indianapolis Tiffanie L. Silcox, 19, of Indianapolis, formerly of Columbus, died Rittman Funeral Home, with the Revs.

Miss Silcox was born March 15, 1982, in Nashville, the daughter of Howard Silcox and Wanda Hughes of Indianapolis. Marjorie Stone's mother Myrtle Smalley Columbus CONNERSVILLE Myrtle Smalley, 94, of Columbus, formerly of Connersville, died Sunday, Aug. 26, 2001, at Columbus Health and Rehabilitation Center. Mrs. Smalley was retired from Ford Electronics and Refrigeration in Connersville and had worked at Franklin Casket Co. in Brookville.

She was a member of New Heights Church of Christ in Connersville. The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Showalter-Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Myers Chapel, in Connersville, with Robert D. Taylor officiating. Calling will be from 11 a.m.

to time of service Tuesday. Burial will be at Maple Grove Cemetery in Brookville. Mrs. Smalley was born Jan. 20, 1907, in Franklin County, the daughter of William and Mabel O.

Heeb Fath. She married Milford Smalley Sept. 1, 1926. He died Nov. 5, 1960.

Survivors include a daughter, Marjorie Stone of Columbus; a granddaughter, Sherry Munn of Columbus; two great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Gertrude Murray of Connersville. She married Robert Curtis Curt" Cowherd July 1, 1995, in Nashville. He survives. Other survivors' include a daughter, Susan Shultz of Columbus; sons, Stephen Jonassen of Chicago, David Jonassen of Columbia, and William Jonassen of Largo, and seven grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, William Harp. Jennings County native Helen T.Hill Madison NORTH VERNON Helen T.

Hill, 91, of Madison, formerly of Jennings County, died Saturday, Aug. 25, 2001, at King's Daughters' Hospital in Madison. Mrs. Hill was a retired houser keeper and a member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church, Daughters of Isabella and Altar Society of St. Patrick Catholic Church, all in Madison.

She enjoyed reading, crafts, needlepointing and gardening. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Anne's Catholic Church in North Vernon, with the Rev. John Meyer officiating.

Calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Vance-Fisher-Sawyer Funeral Home. A rosary service will be at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at St.

Mr. Garrity retired in 1987 from Cummins Inc. after 32 years of service. He was a Special Services bus driver for Jennings County schools for 13 years. He was a 1955 graduate of Paris Crossing High School.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite Valley and Murat Temple of Indianapolis, and Winding Waters Fishing Club. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Pickett Funeral Home, with Tom Mattingly officiating. Calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.

retiree Fleta J. Cowherd Eighth Street Fleta Jonassen Cowherd, 77, of Eighth Street died at 9:03 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 25, 2001, at Columbus Regional Hospital. Mrs.

Cowherd was retired from Cummins Inc. after 30 years of service.
