Wrestling-Boxing Tie Up Angles, Threats BY HUGH FULLERTON, JR. NEW YORK, June 22 UP) can find a lot of different angles in the proposed shotgun wedding between the International Boxing known as "one big happy the unnamed outfit known as the wrestling "trust." see it as merely a threat to Charley Johnston, local wrestling promoter and head of the recalcitrant managers guild Others find great significance in Jim Norris' statement: "We are in business to show a profit, and wrestling is profitable." It also could show how far boxing has gone how far wrestling has come up Another angle is that boxing Is just about dead and this move could kill wrestling, too. Officer, Do Your Duty Mushky Jackson's reaction to the plan to put boxing and wrestling on even terms in the Garden was: "Now if dey could only bring girl rasslers into New York, tint would be a sensation." But, If the mat monsters Invade the big arenas regularly, won't the commissions which nominally govern their activities have to bear down a bit and treat them just like the glove Goliaths? Hitherto the authorities have looked upon the wrestlers' antics with paternal amusement As big-time, big-arena performers, they might be ordered to cut out the nonsense and wrestle, just as fighters are ordered to fight And it was proved long ago that nothing is duller than a "straight" wrestling match. Even the television fans couldn't stand much of that. Sportsmention Dutch Dotterer, the Reds scout, had quite a problem when his son, John, a swell college catcher at Syracuse, wanted to turn pro at the end of his sophomore year.

Pop wanted the kid to get his education, but he was nfraid some other scout would nab him. So young Dutch signed with the Reds Saddest guy around Rice institute when Tobin Rote used up his football eligibility and signed with the Packers was Track coach Emmett Brunson. Rote, who'll be back on the campus next spring, was eligible for another year as a javelin thrower who consistently beat 200 feet. Typographical The Texas player who has given opposing pitchers the most trouble during the NCAA baseball play offs is Guss Hrncir, who been on base 13 times in 17 trips at Omaha He has hit five doubles and driven in seven runs didn't play often enough during the regular season to win a letter, but he'll undoubtedly get one for his playoff feats And fosh, a is about the only letter that wouldn't make Hrncir easier to spell. Rose Bowl Pact Talks Next May MADISON, CSV- June 2: Big 10 and Pacific coast conference will next May to discuss renewal of the Rose bowl football pact, it was decided yesterday.

The big question concerns "the method of selecting teams to appear in the new year's day classic, according to Vic Schmidt commissioner for the PCC, and Kenneth (Tug) Wilson, Western conference commissioner. The decision to postpone action was made at a closed joint session of interim discussion committees of both loops. When it was over Schmidt said that "if acceptable conditions can be negotiated it appears likely that the pact will The present agreement, which ends Jan. 1, has a clause sponsored by the Big 10 banning its members from appearing more than once in a three-year span. The coast conference has sent its champion in all the four years the agreement has operated.

"The Pacific coast conference has considered, the possibility of other arrangements. Actually, the same method of selecting its representative by each conference would be preferable," Schmidt said. Sioux City moved within two games of front running Omaha by sweeping a Western league- doubleheader last night while the Cards were dropping a pair. The second place Soos blasted six homers three by Gail Henley in trimming Colorado Springs 8-5 in the seven-inning opener and 7-3 in the nightcap.

Wichita overcame three run Omaha leads in both games to trim Omaha 9-8 in the abbreviated opener and 7-3 in the windup. Pueblo skipped past Des Moines 4-3 Lincoln outlasted Denver 84 in 15 innings, Henley pumped single run over the Colorado Springs fence in the fifth and sixth innings of the opener after Ed Sam- coff's triple and Frank McArthur's homer had given the Soos a 5-3 lead. In the nightcap Ray Katt's three run homer in the seventh was the deciding blow. Homers by Syl Dimenna and Carl Powis gave Wichita its opening game victory. Charley Frey's home run sparked Omaha to a 3-0 lead in the nightcap but Powis gave Wichita the victory with a four-run homer in the ninth after two doubles and two singles tied the count.

Reliefer Hank Williams weakened after six innings of sterling work and let Lincoln crush Denver. He opened the 15th by pitching eight consecutive balls to the first two batters. Tom Kirk's double sent both runners home and that was enough to win. Bases on balls were convented into runs for Pueblo's victory over Des Moines. The Dodgers led off both the first and third innings with passes and they provided the scores for the win.

Leon Brinkopf belted his 15th homer of the season for Des Moines. Power Pumps Hike Farm Water tlse WASHINGTON Electric pumps farm family use of water, says the U. S. Department of Agriculture. Families which pump water by hand often use about six gallons per day per person, it says.

After a few years of using power pumps this may rise to 50 gallons per persons per day. Many families which use hand pumps do not know how much time they spend pumping and carrying water, the department suggests. It estimated that each cow, horse or mule uses 10 to 15 gallons BY JACK HAND AP Sporti Writer Bucky Harris' new Washington rhumba and mucho stuffo on the old apple. Just ask Detroit. The Tigers saw Sandalio Consuegra yesterday and Conrad Marrero Tuesday.

They haven't seen the ball yet. Who are Consuegra and Marrero The red book says they both pitched for Havana in the Florida International (Class B) last year. Consuegra had a 6-5 record in 11 games. He's a slim Cuban, just under 6 feet but only 150 pounds. Marrero, a chunky fellow, had a 25-8 record for a 1.52 earned run average.

Three years in a row he was the top winner in the league. No Worries Now Harris wasn't too keen on his Cuban talent during spring training. Naturally he was a little dubious about a Class pitcher in the majors. Turned out he didn't have to worry. Consuegra got into an argument with Owner Clark Griffith of the Senators about paying off an old mezuela contract and went home.

He was called back from Havana this month. First start he shut out Chicago. St. Louis knocked him out. Then he whipped Detroit yesterday, 12-4, with only five hits.

Marrero, like his countryman, a righthander, now is a regular starter with a 4-2 record. Half his wins are over Detroit's first-place Tigers, a three-hitter and a four- hitter. The two of them with a 6-2 combined record for a club that has won 2G and lost 31, are the top Latin American sports diplomats in the nation's capital. Saves Detroit Cleveland, moving up fast in the race, saved Detroit's hide by whipping the second place New York Yankees, 5-1. No Cubans there.

Early Wynn, an old Alabama boy, took charge of the Yanks with a four-hitter. Only Bobby Brown's homer in the ninth robbed him of a shutout. Billy Pierce followed up his recent one-hitter against New York with a 3-1 victory for Chicago over the Boston Red Sox. Pierce yielded seven hits but he struck out eight, getting Ted Williams twice. Lou Brissie came' to the rescue of Bob Hooper to save the Philadelphia A's 4-2 margin over St.

Louis. Although Brissie started Sunday and pitched nine innings Tuesday night he worked 1 1-3 hitless inr.ings. Veteran Wally Moses drove in two of the runs off Al Widmar. Once again the National is all snarled up with St. Louis and Brooklyn tied for the lead.

Cincinnati rallied with three in the ninth to nip Brookyn, 6-5, while St. Louis pulled up even with the Dodgers on a rousing 14-6 romp over New York. Newcombe Lifted Manager Burt Shotton liftefl starter Don Newcombe' when he walked the leadoff man in the ninth although Brooklyn led, 5-3. Relief pitching failed to stop Cincy with Harry Lowrey delivering a decisive bases loaded double. St.

Louis ran up the biggest score against the Giants this season to regain a piece of first place. Leo Durocher's "hunch" starter, Kirby Higbe, failed to last two innings. Fine relief pitching by Bill Werle and timely hitting in the sixth inning gave Pittsburgh a 5-3 win over Philadelphia, costing the Phils a chance to close in on the lead. Triples by Gus Bell and Ralph Kiner were the big guns in the three-run sixth. Werle relieved winner Bill MacDonad in the seventh to stamp out a threat.

Vern Bickford's five-hit pitching wasted as Chicago blanked Boston, 3-0, behind Johnny Schmitz. Bill Serena's two-run homer in the fifth broke a 0-0 tie. a day. Game time is 8:15. The game is sponsored by the American Legion. Net proceeds of the ball game will go into the Junior American Legion baseball fund.

The contest will be a top-drawer affair. The Blues are composed of many players who are due to step up to the parent Red Sox and into Negro baseball's fastest circles. The team also consists of several veterans of Negro major league play who are used to steady the youngsters. Among top players on the Blues' squad are Jesse Warren, curve- ball artist who has won five and lost one. Behind the plate will be Wayman "Red" Longley, a veteran of Negro baseball.

Oscar "Skinny" Harris, another promising hurler who has won four and lost one this year, will be ready to go. Harris is 16-years- old. Jim Ford, veteran baseballer, manages the Memphis crew. The Black Yankees boast of a fast infield and are well known for their double plays. The team has plenty of batting power and speed.

The Yankees are the pride of Harlem in New York City. Their popularity is due to the youth movement on the club which like the Blues, is composed of potential big league material. Marvin Barker, reportedly one of the greatest all-around players in professional Negro baseball, manages the New York team. He is assisted by Harry Williams, coach, another all-time Negro great. Cubs, Panthers Win Softball Contests The Cubs, one of the four teams in the Dempster Softball loop, continued their winning ways last night at Riverside park when they trounced the Cardinals 21-11.

They outhit their opponents 17 to 8. Both teams committed eight errors. In the first game of the evening, the Panthers defeated the Trojans 10-8. The Pantjiers were bettered in the hitting department by the Trojans 10-8. Three errors were committed by the Panthers.

The Trojans made one. Harold Andrew, Beatrice hurler. was in top form last night as the Beatrice Fords handed the Seward juniors a 5-0 pasting at Athletic park. Andrew struck out 12 of the 26 batters to face him. Last night's win was the third league victory for the Beatrice club.

They had previously beaten Fairbury and the Lincoln Elks. Andrew received good support from his teammates both in the field and at bat. Beatrice scored their runs in the second and third innings. In the second, with one down, Hugh Munson, Beatrice catcher, rapped a double, but was retired when he attempted to steal third Don Hodge, in the same inning, drew a "free pass" and Dick Kiburz, second sacker, blasted a double, advancing Hodge to third. Left-fielder Geistlinger hit what should have been an easy out to Jim Lief, Seward third baseman, but the third sacker overthrew first.

Hodge and Kiburz scored on the overthrow. Marv Howe, Beatrice right fielder blasted a home run to start the third inning rally. It was Howe's second of the season. Jack Invin walked, stole second, and advanced to third on a controversial balk. Ernie Siefkes also walked and stole second.

Don Hodge drove a sharp single to right, field, scoring Invin and Siefkes. Seward's main threat was in the sixth. An error put Larry Cred- dick, centerfielder on base. He advanced to third on two fielders' choice. But he got no further as Andrew bore down to strike out Darrell Pohlman, Seward second baseman for the final out.

The Beatrice Midgets had a rougher go. In a four-inning affair, they were swamped 9-0 by the Seward Midgets. Beatrice got but one hit, and that was by Third Baseman Bobby Kreuscher, the smallest man on the Bobby's rally was cut short. He was out by steps attempting a steal to second.
