Proceeds from this year's dinner will help pay off the debt i incurred in building the parish 1 hall, and will help defray penses on the church's $9,000 Clergyman Raps 'Double Standard' NEW YORK Monsignor Edgar P. Church Council Sets Annual Meet In Wellsville The Allegany County Council of Churches will hold its annual dinner meeting June 1 in the Wellsville First Congregational Church, when members will elect officers for 1967-68 and vote on the proposed amendments 'to the constitution. Plans for the session were made April 13 when organization held its 'monthly business meeting at the First Congregational Church. The following were appointed to serve on the nominating committee: the Rev. Glenn E.

Bucher, the Rev. David Clarke and Lewis L. Neely. The Rev. Rex Zwiebel of.Al- fred Station, chairman of committee on Christian education, announced that the 1987 Christian Life Institute, sponsored annually by the council, will be held Oct.

Salvation Army Names Delegates To Youth Councils The Wellsville Citadel of The Salvation Army will send delegates to the annual Salvation Army youth councils, to be held Saturday and Sunday, April 2223, at Watson Homestead in Painted Post- Local delegates will be Mr. and Mrs.

Eugene Pigford and Donald Simpson. They will be accompanied 'by Captain and Mrs. Theodore Stanfield, officers in charge of the local citadel, who will also take part in the sessions. Capt. Stanfield, said the local delegates will be among those from all- over Western New York who will attend various educational sessions during the weekend.

They will also have the opportunity, to meet and talk with Commissioner William Davidson, territorial commander of The Salvation Army in the East. The commissioner has recently returned from a tour of Salvation Army installations throughout Africa. Also slated for the weekend is the showing of the film, "Without Onion," a story of a teenage group and the effect that the Gospel has on their lives. Capt. Stanfield noted that Ralph Eastlack, director of the Allegany County Youth for Christ, will be guest speaker at morning services Sunday at the local citadel.

REV. 0. G. McKINLEY. Hallsport Church To Hold Crusade The Hallsport Christian Church will conduct an evangelism crusade April 23-30 with the Rev.

and Mrs. 0. G. McKinley of Houghton taking The Rev. Mr.

McKinley has been a pastor for 40 years, and is now a full-time evangelist. He will speak at 7:30 p.m. each day of the crusade, and will play his musical saw. Mrs. McKinley will execute a chalk drawing each She will also render selections on the vibraharp.

'Teen Chorale' To Conduct Two Concerts in County The a group, of 60 teenagers from the Thames Valley area of Connecticut, will present a concert when Allegany County Youth for Christ holds a 7:44 p.m. rally Saturday, April 22, in the auditorium of Wellsville's David A. Howe Library.

The singers will present a similar concert at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 23, in the Rushford Baptist Church. They will then sing at p.m. vesper service at Houghton College's Wesley Chapel. The group's repertoire includes anthems, hymn arrangements, choruses, spiritual and patriotic numbers by the entire company, in addition to special instrumental and vocal selections by individuals.

Charles J. Hellier of Gales Ferry, is director of the chorale, with Royden Wilkinson, assistant music director and organist. Miss Christine Troger is pianist. Members of the chorus represe.nt some 13 schools and approximately the same number of churches. The Wellsville and Rushford programs are open to the public.

CLERGY SHORTAGE LONDON (AP) The Church of England faces a shortage of about 3,000 clergymen by the end of 1968, its yearbook reports. Rushford Church Eyes $25,000 Bible House RUSHFORD Plans to build a new $25,000 Bible House for released time instruction have been announced by the Rushford Baptist Church. Members voted erect the Bible House on the site of the present building, the former Reuben Lafferty home purchased 15 years ago.

METHODISTS DECLINING LONDON (AP) The Methodist Church in England is losing about 10,000 members a year, according to Dr. Leslie Davison, secretary of the Methodist Home Missions Department, who calls his church "the helpless victim of social revolution." Dr. Davison says the current mobility of the population means that local churches tend to be left to the leadership of the retired and elderly and make little impact on newcomers. WASHINGTON (AP) The proportion of Lutheran seminary and college professors with earned 'doctor's degrees has increased from 40 per cent in 1960 to 57.1 per cent at present, an educational survey shows.
