Vanney FALLON Herbert C. Vanney, 74, died Saturday at a Garden Grove, hospital. A native of New Orleans, he was born Dec. 31, 1912, and was a Fallon resident for the past 13 years. Vanney was a Navy veteran and retired government employee.

His wife, Delia, died in February. Surviving are his daughter, Carla M. Holman of San Pedro, brother, George of Jefferson, sister, Rita Luening of New Orleans; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Buchholz was a retired agricul- tural laborer. There are no known survivors. A graveside funeral is scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday at Fallon Cemetery, under the direction of Austin, Matson Smith Funeral Home. A memorial is being established with Friends of the Library, 553 S.

Maine Fallon 89406. Esta L. Eltiste FALLON Esta Lee Eltiste, 87, died Saturday of natural causes at her Fallon residence. A native of Salmon, Idaho, she was born March 23, 1900, and was 'a Fallon resident for the past 24 years, coming from Saudi Arabia. Mrs.

Eltiste was a homemaker and original member of the Fallon Senior Citizens Center. Her husband, William, died in 1 1968. Surviving are a daughter, iKathryn Wilson of Reno; five grandchildren; and nine great- grandchildren. A funeral is scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday at Austin, Matson I.

Smith Funeral Home, with burial 'at Fallon Cemetery. Juanita M. McPortland Juanita M. McPortland, 44, died 'Friday at a Reno hospital. A native of Twin Falls, Idaho, 'she was born Oct.

12, 1942, and a lifelong Reno resident. Mrs. McPortland was a bank teller and a member of St. Albert Great Catholic Church. Surviving are her husband, Michael, son, Pat, and daughter, Kathleen McPortland, all of Reno; father, Clifford Grey of Verdi; sisters, Vivian Grey of Oakland, Lois DelGrande of Ely, Louise of Holland and Maxine of Mexico; and one grandchild.

Recitation of the rosary is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Monday at Walton Funeral Home, Reno. A Mass of Christian Burial will celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the church, with burial at Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery. Lester Ostrom Jr.

NORWICH, N.Y. Lester Ostrom 47, died Friday in Norwich. Ostrom was a Norwich resident ior the past seven months, coming Jrom Reno, where he lived for 24 years. Ostrom had been employed by JCarl's Hotel-Casino in Sparks. Surviving are his widow, Christine, parents, Lester and Beulah, daughter, Virginia Ostrom, and brother, Theodore, all of Norwich; Son, Clayton Ostrom of Springfield, son, Edward Childs, and daughters, Rene Don, Ford and Debra Pruitt, all of Sacramento; daughters, Barbara May and Lisa Bowers, both of parson City; daughter, Wendy Voorhies of Turlock, and a sister, Elizabeth Noke of Nassau, N.H.

Visitation is scheduled from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Fahy Funeral Home, Norwich. A funeral is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral Jiome.

Reuben Zucker, 68, died June 9 at a Las Vegas hospital. A native of Waterbury, he was born May 24, 1919, and was a Las Vegas resident for the past 26 years. Dr. Zucker earned both his undergraduate and medical degrees from Yale University. He was responsible for the first medical residency program at Southern Nevada Memorial Hospital, now University Medical Center.

He also taught in the residency program. Dr. Zucker was chairman of Memorial Hospital's Max C. Fleischmann Library Committee, which established the first medical library in Las Vegas. Gov.

Richard Bryan named April 9, 1987, Reuben Zucker Day in Nevada in recognition of his support of the university's library. Dr. Zucker served as an Army captain for two years in the Philippines, and was a member of Phi Beta Kappa, the Yale Club of Nevada and was president cf the Las Vegas Symphony Society. Surviving are his widow, Blanche, and son, Jeffrey, both of Las Vegas; son, David of Reno; daughter, Ellen Frank of Nashua, N.H.; stepdaughter, Kay Green of Richardson, Texas; stepson, Gary Marsh of Novato, sister, Belle Gruber, and brother, Sol, both of Waterbury; and eight grandchildren. Burial was at Palm Valley View Memorial Park, under the direction of Palm Valley View Mortuary.
