The pheasant hunting Saturday was good for sportsmen who knew where to go, but for uninformed strangers it was not so In some groups there was only a fifth of a bird to the hunter when the day was over. These, however, were cases where the hunters merely sought a cornfield and proceeded to hunt without previous knowledge of whether or not the field contained pheasants. Hunters are agreed that the greatest number oE birds is to be found in northeast Kossuth.

Around Union elough they are plentiful. Scattered good-sized flocks are to be'found in the other parts of north Kossuth. Despite the number of counties open for hunting Kossuth drew a large of out-of-the-county sportsmen. Many arrived early in tho morning and left as soon as they had obtained the limit. Many Kossuth citizens are entertaining hunters from other parts of the state.

The second period of the open season began yesterday morning and will close tonight. It was anticipated by the expert hunters that yesterday would see the last of the easy shooting. It was figured that by last night the birds would have become extremely gunehy, also that practically all of the careless birds would have been bagged, leaving only the wiser pheasants at As'usual, manyjmore birds have not be bagged Roaenmeyer 'dented implication in robbery of the Wesley and St. sftlct thquKh believed 1 knows who rob them. FUNNEMARK AND BAUJEMftN WIN CtOSE CONTESTS fELLOW BALLOT STIRS DRYS Till EXPLAINED There was undue excitement mong uninformed members of the ocal prohibition forces Tuesday nornlng, when they received yellow onstitutlonal convention ballots at he polls. Mrs. Paine had been able to make only a partial canvass. Sheriff Hovey had been too busy of late chasing bank bandits to take time for a canvass, and he therefore feels that the vote he received is an endorsement of his Conduct of the office. TURNER'S MAJORITY IN KOSSUTH 1581 In marked contrast to the way Dickinson ran was a two-to-one ma- ority piled up by Dan W. Turner or governor. Turner got 325,7 irotes, while his democratic oppon- nt. Hagemann, collected only 1676. Turner's vote was, affected by "straight ticket" democrats, "Garfield by, five" vas swamped 209-85 In Greenwood, also dropped Prairie, Ramsey, Riverdale.

Curious voting appears in comparing the Dickinson and Turner results. In La'kota, for example, Turner received 106 votea, while Dlck- nson got only 52. At the same time Steck got 105 and Hageman only 47. Trends throughout the county showed that many Steck votes were either votes against Dickinson or against the party rather than votes for Steck and the democratic party. In Lakota Dickinson and Hageman had nearly the same number of votes, while Turner "and Steck'were only a vote apart.

Similar results are noted in Plum Creek, Ledyard, Letts Creek, Sexton, Wesley, and Whittemore. An avalanche of democratic elected A Bonnstetter, West Bend, representative, and also nearly won the county for Dan Steck from L. Dickinson, home countjc. candidate for the Senate.
