i WW'S! k. 1 -T-Jt 1 Averell Harriman, mutual security administrator, reportedly has recommended to President Truman that U. S. aid to Denmark not be cut off because the Danes sold a tanker to RussiaT The recommendation was made after Harriman consulted various government agencies. They were reported to have agreed that halting military and economic assist-'t'ance to Denmark would injure her defense effort and jeopardize the North Atlantic alliance.

Truman can overrule Harriman, but was expected to follow his ad- vice. The president is expected to announce his decision within a few days. i Officer Installed SMITH VALLEY, July 17 War-ren Simpson was installed, as presi- EAST BERLIXERS PARADE East Berlin Communists wear red and gold sashes and care red banners and huge portraits of Lenin and Stalin as they march in Marx-Engels square in East Berlin during demonstration on occasion of the East Berlin conference of East Germany's ruling Socialist unity (Communist) party. July 17. LSV-Virginia Democrats meet. today to select the final bloc of delegates to the national party convention opening Monday in Chicago. The state party members were to name two delegates with one vote each for each of the state's 10 districts and 16 delegates at large with a vote apiece. This would make a 36-man delegation to cast the state's 28 votes in the national convention.

Most of the state's political leaders, including U. S. Sen. Harry F. Byrd and Governor John S.

Battle, have been plugging Sen. Richard Russell of Georgia for the presidential nomination. Air Training Is Expanded FALLON, July 17. Air training activity on a substantially expanded scale began Monday at the navy's auxiliary landing field here as Alameda jet squadrons VC3, VF91 and VF93 arrived for simultaneous gunnery and bombing practice. Making possible the expanded training, which heretofore has been limited to one squadron at a time, is the remodeling of two large warehouses into quarters.

The buildings have been reworked and painted by a civil service carpenter group from the bay area. Approximately 25 jet planes Banshees and Panthers are on the field to accommodate a larger number of pilots in the squadrons. No figures on the number of men at the field were available from the navy. It was believed by civilian observers, however, that the total personnel, including ground crews, pilots, and permanent personnel has been more than doubled with the arrival of the squadrons, with the total probably approximating 300 officers and men. Co-administrators of the estate of the late Jake Katleman have been ordered to proceed with the sale of 495 shares of stock in Hotel El Rancho Vegas to Beldon Katleman, despite bitter objections to the sale by Liberty Katleman, widow of Jake Katleman.

The ruling was issued in district court by Judge A. S. Henderson. The contested sale, 'which took place last month, was opposed by Mrs. Katleman and Attorney William Ruymann.

representing the Katleman child, on grounds that Beldon Katleman's offer of $184,500 for the stock and a hotel corporation note of $81,000 was too low. Beldon Katleman was the only bidder in the public sale, and as a result of Judge Henderson's decision, will gain possession of the 495 shares from the estate. The judge in ruling that the sale should be made, pointed out that the estate is in financial distress and cannot pay its obligations without raising funds. He explained in referring to Mrs. Katleman's claim that the stock is worth more than the bid, such as sets are worth only the price they will bring in public sale, pointing but that in a previous sale, held illegal by the court, the single offer was less than that of Beldon Katleman.

The judge noted as "peculiar" the fact that Joe Orloff, M. L. Josephs and Martin Clemens, purchasers of the stock in the first sale, had failed to bid at the second sale. He pointed out also that the estate can be settled in about seven months, by completing, the transaction as proposed. He added that, by his tabulations, there should be approximately $87,000 left for the widow and child.

Judge Henderson observed that holdings in gambling establishments were a "hazardous" investment since there is always the chance that state laws might further regulate them or outlaw tfyem entirely. It was the rhapsody, 'The Banks of Green Willow," and the opening was superb. Then came the turn of the horn section. Dr.

Boyd Neel, conductor of the string orchestra, waved his baton. Nothing happened. He waved It again. There was only silence. He peered incredulously into the orchestra, then turned to the audience and announced: "I am sorry.

Part of the orchestra is missing. I'll go and find it." Dr. Neel marched sternly off the stage, marched sternly back with two blushing horn-players. They had been found at the artists' refreshment bar. Dr.

Neel waved his baton again, and "The Banks of Green Willow" went on as scheduled. Cot. From 1 P. M. Phone 3-3515 sary celebration of the Du Pont Nemours Company tomorrow at 4:00 o'clock.
