be opened to low salaried defense workers on its completion about August 1. This was disclosed today by nard J. Abbrott, secretary of the Oakland Housing Authority. The East Oakland project is about 30 per cent complete at this time, A Abbrott declared. Completed, it will house 372 defense worker families in 53 multiple dwelling buildings.

Sounded Peralta Village, by Eighth, 12th, Union and Streets, has already been partially taken over by defense family tenants. Fifty families have moved in thus far and when completed, the project will house 396 families. "Originally," Abrott explained, "these projects were designed for regardless of employment, familles, response to insistent demands of the Federal government they are being converted to of families in defense industries." Only the Campbell Village project bounded by Eighth, 10th, Campbell and Willow Streets is bein. reserved for non-defense workers. ALAMEDA BOARDS READY FOR DRAFT ALAMEDA, Jan.

Board No. 62 of Alameda will register all men 20 to years old, not previously registered, at Haight School. Registration dates will be February 14, 15 and 16, according to Stanley D. Whitney, board chairman. All men who reached their 20th birthday before December 31, 1941, and those who have not reached their 45th birthday by February 16 of this year, will be included, except those registered for selective service in 1940 and 1941.

All who live east- of -Sherman Street in Alameda are under jurisdiction of Board No. 62. Those living west of Sherman Street are included in Board No. 63, which will register them Washington School and the Woodstock Village Community Center in Alameda. Volunteers to aid with registrations from 7 a.m.

to 9 p.m., for the three days, are wanted by Board No. 62. War Clinic to Open Way for Contracts San Francisco's "war clinic," scheduled to open at the Whitcomb Hotel February 2, is expected to develop millions of dollars of new business in Northern California, cording to Colonel F. Smith, State director of the Division of Contract Distribution. As a result of the National defense clinic held in San Francisco last November, negotiations were started that are expected to result in more $2,000.000 worth of business, Colonel Smith said.

Smith reported that his office had been advised that nearly $400,000 in subcontracts have already been placed as the result of the previous twoday meeting of prime and subcontractors. Approximately 60 major exhibits will be open for inspection six days a week to those who have manufacturing facilities, Smith said, in urging all manufacturers to visit the clinic. A staff of engineers, headed by R. W. Hawksley, clinic manager, will be on hand to advise potential subcontractors seeking war contracts.
