Page 2 THS Debaters Going To New Castle For Match THE TIPTON (INDIANA) DAILY TRIBUNE Queen Candidates For SATURDAY, JANUARY 31, 1970 SJA Valentine's Dance It teaches Debate is considered an important activity at students organization, good analysis and Debaters, coached by Wayne Wade, study from specially published handbooks and library and reference materials. All speakers give a four and eight.minute speech with a three minute cross- examination. The Tipton High has traveled to Crawfordsville, Lafayette Jeff, Kokomo High and Ball State. A debate match at New Castle is planned for January 31. On February 14, the Tipton High School Debate Team will host the first Tipton Invitational Debate Tournament.

Blackford County, Kokomo High School, Brebeuf, Elwood and Franklin Central High of Indianapolis are a few of the 15 high schools expected to participate. 2 is Tipton High School's 1970 Betty Crocker Homemaker of Tomorrow. In addition to receiving a specially designed silver charm from General Mills, sponsor'of the annual homemaking education program, Jenny is now eligible for one of 102 college scholarships totaling $110,000. From school winners in the state, aState Homemaker of Tomorrow and runner-up will be selected within the next few weeks. The state winner will be awarded a $1,500 scholarship and the up a $500 educational grant. In addition, the school of the state Homemaker of Tomorrow will receive a complete set of Encyclopedia Britannica from Encyclopedia Britannica, Inc.

This spring, the 51 Homemakers of Tomorrow representing every state and the District of Columbia, efch accompanied by a school advisor, will join for an expense-paid educational tour of Washington, D.C., and Colonial Williamsburg, Va. Climax of the tour will be announcement of the 1970 Betty Crocker All-American Homemaker of Tomorrow. Selected from the 51 finalists on the basis of original test scores and personal observation and Interviews during the tour, she will be awarded an increase in her scholarship to $5,000. Second, third, and fourth ranking Homemakers of Tomorrow in the nation will also be chosen, and will receive scholarship increases to $4,000, $3,000 and $2,000, re- spectively. He is the son of Earl Miller, a service manager and Pauline Miller who is employed at Hy-Line. He has two brothers, Greg, 20, and Mark 3. Rodney is on the academic curriculum with majors in science, English and math and minors in history and Latin. School clubs he is active in are T-Men (parliamentarian) and Student Council. After graduation he plans a caresr in Computer Science.

His favorite hobbies are trapping, fishing, hunting and playing snooker. The sports he enjoys are boxing, hockey, billards, basketball and football. Being an outstanding tackle in football, Rodney was selected for the first string CIC "All Conference" team. In basketball the 6'5" senior plays the center position for the Blue Devil team. The most rebounds he has made is 23 and his average is 8.1 per game.

Rodney's shooting average is 11.8 with a game highof 36 points, the best single game scoring performance of the season. Tipton High School's Yearbook Receives First Class Honor Rating Tipton High School's 1969 TIPTONIAN, has received a First Class Honor Rating in the 49th All American Yearbook Cretical Service conducted by the National Scholastic Press Association at the of Minnesota. Yearbooks from more than 1,400 high schools across the nation are judged on the basis of content, photography, layout and design and are evaluated in comparison with other books, from schools with equal enrollment. They won their last game against Western and hoping that they, will win their remaining baBgames. Congratulations on a wonderful victory at the Holiday Tourney. held a Morp Dance in the school gym. The band playing for the dance was the "Butterscotch The Juniors crowned Terry Rainey as King and Rhonda Holder as Queen for the event this year.
