James F. Callahan, a Pittsburgh attorney, died yesterday in the Cleveland Clinic Hospital in Cleveland.

Mr, Callahan, of the Park Plaza Apartments, Oakland, was a director of North Side Packing Co. and the Mecho Products Corp. He was president of the Pittsburgh Hockey Club and a leading figure in many endeavors to bring National League Hockey to the old Duquesne Gardens. Born in old Allegheny, he had been engaged in private practice for many years. He was a graduate of the Duquesne University LawjSchool and studied law under attorney Alexander M.

Neeper, with whom he later became associated. For many years he was the law partner of the late Judge Frank Patterson. He was active in civic affairs and politics. During World War Mr. Callahan served as a pilot in the 268th Aero Squadron of the Army Signal Corps.

He became an Army flying Instructor In the latter days of the war. He was a member of the Pittsburgh Athletic the Fellows Club, the American Legion, the Loyal Order of Moose, the Knights of Equity and the Allegheny County Bar Assn. He attended St. Paul's Cathedral, Oakland. Surviving are his widow, owner of Gorenstein's Cigar Tobacco Store at 120 E.
