charges of violating the Federal agents registration act and court attaches said the jury would probably start deliberations before nightfall. Williams testified in his own behalf, but Ryder did not go on the stand. The Government contends the two did not reveal their propaganda activities in behalf of Japan as required by the registration charges that Ryder failed to register and that Williams failed to supply full information. Williams told the jury yesterday that "no one dictated what I wrote -I wrote what I saw fit." He admitted, however, that he was paid his salary for work for the newspaper Times and Advertiser at the Japanese consulate general in Francisco. He also admitted signing radio contracts as representative of the Japanese Committee on Trade and Information in San Francisco, which the Government charges was the outlet of Japanese propaganda in this country.

The witness emphasized that he held different views now from those held prior to the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. He said that until the attack he had trusted the Japanese with whom he worked "implicitly." said he was working for "peace, not for war." MACARTHUR PARK? NO! IT'S AGAIN CALLED MOSSWOOD MacArthur Park will become Mosswood Park once more, the Oakland City Council informed indignant pioneer protestants yesterday. Mayor John F. Slavich gave that assurance after H. F. Deaner, 91, appeared before the council and protested the recent name change to MacArthur Park.

The Mayor said that he had been informed by the City Park Board that it was reversing its action of last month when it dropped the Mosswood title. Earlier, the council had re named Moss Avenue MacArthur Boulevard, in honor of the hero of the Pacific war. Deaner's was another in a series of protests raised by pioneers after the park name change. They argued that it should retain the name of its pioneer owner, Dr. J.

Mora Moss. Moss sold the land for the park to the city and it was named for him and his wife, whose maiden name was Wood. Action June 1 WASHINGTON, May Federal regulation of rents will be imposed June 1 in 20 war -congested areas which the Office of Price Administration said today had failed to take local action. The score of communities was the first group of defense rental areas designated by Price Administrator Leon Henderson on March 2 and given 60 days to cut rents voluntarily back to prescribed levels. "In no area was it found that the price administrator's recommendation as reduction of rents has been met for the community as a to, whole," the OPA said. "Since the areas have not met Mr. Henderson's recommendations in the 60 days provided by the (Price Control) statute, the price administrator was to make Federal control effective." The new levels become effective for every type of housing accommodation, even including trailers, with rents payable for the month of June.

The reductions will be automatic, OPA said, adding that the landlord's approval "is not necessary." "Beginning June 1, as a general principle with a few exceptions, tenants are to cut their rents back to what was being charged on the maximum rent date set for their respective areas," the OPA statement specified. No matter whether the tenant pays his rent daily, weekly or monthly, he is to pay only what the same accommodations were bringing on maximum rent date." Body of Captain's Wife to Be Exhumed SAN RAFAEL, May Coroner J. Ray Keaton of Marin County today asked William Crosby, San Mateo County, to exhume the body of Mrs. Frances E. Dooling. 40.

wife of a San Francisco Army captain. She was found dead in her home at Ross, March 11. Keaton requested an autopsy to determine the cause of death, originally ascribed by Dr. John J. Kingston, San Francisco coroner, to hemorrhage resulting from cirrhosis of the liver.

She was buried in the Holy Cross Cemetery, shortly after her death, without a post mortem having been performed to determine the cause of death. Keaton asked that Dr. Jesse Carr. of San Francisco, perform the autopsy and that Dr. Kingston, a friend of Mrs.

Dooling: be present. Mrs. Dooling was found dead within a week after her husband, former San Francisco shipping man, sailed for service abroad. Please start your railroad trip on Monday -or Tuesday, or Wednesday, or Thursday If you are planning a trip by train, we hope you will try to leave on a week-day, to relieve the week-end burden on our trains. It's a good idea from your own standpoint to leave on a week-day, as you will be more apt to get just the accommodations you want.

Also, we hope you will consider the advantages of trav. eling later in the year, instead of in June, July or August. Vacation places are less crowded after the summer season. And in this glorious West of ours, many regions are at their best in the fall or winter. Do you know the charm of Indian Summer at Lake Tahoe, or winter on the desert? The armed forces have first call on our trains.

We know you want it that way. So we will appreciate it if you do everything you can to cooperate with them, and with us.
