Reno's Sands changes name Romann stars in Burlesque show oo existed, it has been his feeling that the increased size of his hotel demanded a separate identity. With the opening of a new tower last December the hotel became Northern Nevada's third largest and gained approval earlier this year for a 35 story addition on which construction is expected to start next fall. Cladianos noted that "we are not affiliated with any other Sands property and the name change is intended to make that quite clear to our many customers and friends." Reno's Sands Hotel Casino has announced plans to modify the company name to identify it as being separate and distinct from properties with the same name in Las Vegas and Atlantic City. Currently billed as the Sands Reno, the new name will become "The Sands Regent" hotel casino. The company has been locally owned and operated by the Cladianos family since 1965.

President Pete Cladianos reports that while no apparent confusion The party atmosphere created by Burlesque 484, now appearing in the Sundowner Cabaret, is chiefly accredited to the talent and experience of it's cast. The "indestructible" Rikki Romann is a fine example of a brilliant artist. Through many years of practice, he designed his tongue-in-cheek sensuality, and broad humor which are recreated nightly for Burlesque '84. Rikki Romann was born in New Orleans, where he began working in several clubs on Bourbon Street. The "Gunga Den" and the "Powder Puff Revue" gave him the incentive to develop the wicked, and yet witty, strip tease, that now delights audiences nightly.
