Larkin P. Howell, the Cathay in Eufaula yesterday for the first time in quite a while. Mr. Howell has been in bed four weeks on account of a bad abscess. Andrew Lerblance, an Indian boy of Pierce who is a brother of Mrs.

W. P. McCombs, had a narrow escape from death in Eufaula Thursday afternoon of last week. Sudie Burdett of Eufaula will be chaperone. Messrs. Hugh McClain and H. G. Barnes gave a Leap Year dance at the Foley Opera House Monday evening.

The young ladies of Eufaula selected their own escorts, taking advantage of the Leap Year privilege in this as in other respects. The music was good and the evening was pleasant and all had good time. Deputy Sheriff W. R. Ransom of Eufaula and constable J.

J. Turney of Burton Township, got into a shooting affray with Pittsburg county officers Tuesday night three miles west of Burton's store in which Wm. Cook was shot in the foot by Constable Turney. Cook and two other Pittsburg county officers were looking for the same man that the Mcintosh county officers met the woods about 11 o'clock and the Pittsburg boys got behind trees as Cook shouted to Turney "hands up" and fired. Turney and Ransom returned the fire and Cook received a flesh wound in the foot before both sides discovered their mistake.
