(JP) The second chapter in the post-repeal history of federal liquor control is expected to open soon, perhaps this week. When President Roosevelt appoints his new federal alcohol administrator, the old control agency which took up the task of keeping order after repeal, will officially die. For some time this agency, known as the federal alcohol control administration, has been without power over the beer, wine and liquor trade it formerly ruled. 16. (IP) Juan Ignacio Pombo reached the goal of his seven thousand mile flight from Spain by landing at Central Airport at 10:25 a. today, more than four months after taking off. Senorita Maria Elena Rivero, who had been waiting all that time for Pombo to get here, was still waiting for him. who took off from San-tander May 12, and flew over the South Atlantic successfully to Brazil, only to meet varied misfortunes, finally reached Mexican soil last Friday, landing at Tejeria, Veracruz.

But he became lost yesterday on his supposedly last stage and landed at San Marcos, Guerero. Senorita Rivero, who intended originally to leave tomorrow for Spain, said she and her mother had postponed their departure for Vera Cruz, when they will sail, until tonight, and "possibly we may not go then." A large crowd had gathered at the Mexico City airport to greet Pombo after he left Tejeria yesterday morning, but after three hours he failed to appear. The hop from Tejeria to Mexico City is usually made in less than two hours. This led to fears that the young aviator had met a fate like that of Barberan and Collar, Spanish army aviators, who were lost three years ago while flying from Havana. The possibility of a forced landing was advanced, and two army planes were sent out with orders to search eighteen years on the New York police force, was held without bail today on a charge of homicide for slaying his wife and seriously wounding his fourteen-year-old daughter.

Deputy Chief Inspector John J. Ryan said that Sullivan admitted shooting his wife, Helen, thirty-eight years old, and wounding Evelyn, one of their five children when she attempted to aid her mother at their Brooklyn home yesterday. Police said that the other children told them that the quarrel started when their mother came home in the early morning hours after a night at Coney Island. In the course of the argument, according to police, they heard Mrs. Sullivan tell her husband that she had started separation proceedings.

"My mind was a blank," Ryan quoted Sullivan as saying. "I don't know what happened." The children told police that the next thing they heard after their mother told Sullivan "I am getting a separation and can do as I please," was her smothered cry: "You're choking me." Then they said that they heard Sullivan shout "I'll show you if I am yellow." A shot rang out. As the woman fled from the room other shots were fired, the children said, and Evelyn was hit as she got in the line of fire going to aid her mother. Sullivan was held in Brooklyn city prison for examination in homicide court on Wednesday. AQ4 8 5 2 10 7 A A 8 3 ruins of their home after a fire.

Sept. 16. (JP) Thomas Dawson, twenty-four, Pasadena, a junior student at the University of California, was revived by a Berkeley fire department inhalator squad after allegedly being exhausted by the rigors of his initiation into the Psi Upsilon fraternity. Officer A. L.

Coffey of the Berkeley police department ambulance squad reported he was called to the fraternity's house last night and found Dawson semi-conscious and gasping for breath. Unable to revive the youth, Coffey called the fire department. After half an hour's work, the firemen succeeded in bringing Dawson back to full consciousness. Coffey said members of the fraternity told him they had compelled Dawson to "run around the hills back of Berkeley" as part of his initiation and that the youth had collapsed. (JP) Rep. Hamilton Fish last night characterized as "amusing propaganda" talk that the republican presidential nominee must come from the Middlewest. Fish veered around the question of who might be his party's candidate for president. He said New York will be the hardest state north of the Mason-Dixon line to carry. Fish, who came to Lincoln to fill a speaking date tomorrow, expressed belief there will be a third political party for the next presidential election.

"I am convinced that in addition to the New Deal Democrats there will be a Jeffersonian-Constitutional Democratic party in the next election," the congressman said. "This second group will probably be headed by either former Governor Ritchie of Maryland, former Governor Ely of Massachusetts or Governor Talmadge of Georgia and they will be supported by seventy-five per cent of the well known Democratic leaders of four years ago who still have a tremendous following."
