ANSWER REFUSED As for Jones the court said the only ground of unsuitability supported by evidence was his failure to respond in a forthright manner to commission inquiry.

This was based upon Jones' "refusal to answer commission questions regarding a conversation he had with Louis Ta bet as originally reported by the Las Vegas Sun: Eoth Hicks and Jones have contended throughout that the tax commission action against them was politically inspired, noting that the original investigation came shortly before Republican Gov. Russell won reelection against a concerted campaign by former Democratic Gov. Vail Pittman. Jones was Democratic lieutenant governor under Pittman. In connection with its ruling that new evidence may not be introduced at court reviews of commission actions, the suprenje court pointed out that it is not "H'nce Ltepartmentr' wanna report a cement man who tries to hit little kids!" Rails led an advance which penetrated the market's 1957 high at noon but profit-taking pared the early gains. Leading stocks were ahead from fractions to a point or more but there were plenty of losers. Rails paced the advance after the interstate commercial commission announced its approval of a boost of about 15 per cent in first class fares of Eastern carriers. Oils, which have led the market upward for two sessions, were mostly lower. Chemicals made some good gains.

Steels pared some of their gains of recent sessions. New York Central rose around a point. Smaller advances were made by Pennsylvania Railroad, Southern Railway, Chesapeake Ohio, and Northern Pacific. Radio frequencies in kilocycles: KATO, FRIDAY 5 P.M. She was promptly returned to England, said the state board of pardons and paroles today in disclosing her release last April 16. Mrs. Hamllik, now 44, came to this country from Streatham, England, after World War II as the bride of a U. S.

Air Force corporal. They had been divorced when she was convicted at Reno in 1951 of voluntary manslaughter in the strangle slaying of four- year-old Robert Podger of Reno. The prosecution had sought the death penalty, but her court-appointed attorney argued that the child's death resulted inadvert antly from her efforts to discipline him.
