CARTEK- NEW YORK, April 3 flV-Today we continue New York's one-cent love story, Synopsis: Rudolph Mayer, 17, and his sweetheart, also 17, whos love blinded them to the law, set up housekeeping without benefit of clergy. The girl's parents caused Rudy's arrest. A kindly judge set bail at a penny and paid it himself. (Now he wants it back to give to the young couple as; a wedding present.) A Grand Jury refused to indict Ruby and the case was dismissed.

All looks rosy for the lovers. STERN PARENTS ENTER Now go on with the story: Chapter II At last! Rudy is free and he and his love plan to get married. Joy reigns supreme in the chambers of Chief Magistrate Henry H. Curran, who contributed the penny. But wait! There go, the girl's parents into wayward minors' court.

They sign a complaint against their daughter. Magistrate Thomas Au- relio tries to stop them. 'There is bo escape from love. he pleads. "Love will find a way.

It will be sinful to separate these two worldly-wise lovers." For an hour and a half he begs the girl's parents to have a heart for theit daughter and Rudy. Now the girl cries: "I earn $18 a week and. Rudy earns $35. We could live on that But my -who are on home relief, take $16 of jr-y money and they -won't evea bay cne a pair of silk stockinge. MORE IN OUR NEXT As the parents refuse to withda-wwi their complamt, Judge Aurelio mi forced to commit the a)irl to a home, pending another heavmg April 13 Magistrate Curran also sag tried to talk the parents out of their stand, unavailmgly.

The future looks black tmtil Judge Aureliocasts out a ray of hope: "Well, he says with a meaningful glance at Rudy, "in about two months he and the girl wfil be of legal age and nothing ean prevent them from spending 10 cents ear- fare and getting married in New Jersey. Don miss the next installment of this engrossing love tale. Will the girl's parents relent? Will Rudy get the girl? Cat Salutes To Earn Meal Feline May Hove Hod Army Mascot Among Ancestors, Is Rumor You've heard of human gourmets who sit up and take notice at the odor or the very thought of tasty dish. Wimpy, the eat, does them one better. When he wants a meal, he salutes.

There's no limit to Wimpy's ps-triotism to food. Any time that he's hungry he sets himself on his hind legs and lifts his right paw tver his right eye. And the gesture would pass as a crisp salute in any company. It's a trick that Wimpy learned as a kitten. He's more than just an ordinary cat, say his master and mistress, Mr.

and Mrs. Bert Johnson, because mixed in with that alley cat blood is a strain of FersAtn.i At least it took no great effort. to make the cat "entch os" that dinner was just around the eorner for a salutation. There's a rumor, too, that Wimpy may have had an Army mascot among his ancestors. Wimpy now is about six years old.

He's been a member pt the Johnson family circle at 10923 Foefel hill Boulevard since his infancy. Civil Relief Act ii i i gi i pn I II IT flT An attempt by a civilian employee of the Navy to Invoke the soldiers and sailors' civil relief set in a di vorce case in Alameda County waaJ overruled today by superior JMgefi John J. Allen. Thf divorce was granted to Mrs. Josephine Oakes Myers, 32, of 2080 Santa Clara Avenue, Alameda, from Glen Myers SO, any accountant employed by the Navy at Rooaevstt Base, Terminal Island, San Pedro.

Myers claimed he was covered by the act, which automatically stalls all court proceedings against soldiers, sailors or marines until 90 days after' their discharge from service. Donald Quayle, who represented Mrs. Myers, pointed out that a per son in the Army Navy could wot resignbut that Myers could wit his position any time he desired. Judge T. W.
